Tickets...is there really any benefit to waiting?

I know that Universal sometimes comes out with deals, or they have in the past. But with HP there now....I just don't know if I should wait out buying tickets closer to our trip (October) or buy now? I went ahead and got HHN tickets for the boys....didn't want the S&S and Express passes to run out on those....but now I need 2 days worth of tickets for our family of 7. I've only looked on the Universal site....should I be watching other sites too? Or again....is it pretty much what it's going to be and I should just suck it up and buy now?

Thanks!!! (From a poster who has not been to Universal in 3 years....so I'm excited to visit again...until I saw those ticket prices LOL....naw I'm still excited).

I would check out triple AAA if you are a member or undercover tourist. Both are a little cheaper. I've heard costco sells tickets if you have a membership.

I am crying over the ticket prices too but at least we have a few more options being military and FL residents. I've been looking all over to find a way to save a little.

Thanks, we're not members of AAA and our Costco isn't quite built yet LOL Maybe by the time we leave for our trip...not really sure. I'll check out Undercover Tourist too...thanks :)

I got mine here: http://www.mapleleaftickets.com/orderform.htm

at the time they were running a 14-day park hopper for $129, but I heard they are sold out of those tickets. I know you had to go through another site to get the discount, but can't find the link to it. I'll keep looking though.

Do a search for "where did the $129 tickets go" and you may be able to find it.

I was lucky and bought 5 day two park tickets for 99 dollars a couple years back. I cancelled my trip back then. I went to AAA and checked on them before I went in June 2010 and AAA had no discount on them at all. The price went up to I think 119.99 for 5 day two park tickets. We only used them for two days and let the rest expire.

Thanks.....The site Mapleleaf had good prices...and that 2% link mentioned in the other thread was nice too. I just HATE shelling out 800.00 all at one time LOL And I wish it was for annual passes or something and not something as small as 2 day tickets. Oh well, maybe if I break it up in to two orders over the next few weeks it'll be more bearable. That's what I did with the HHN tickets....just purchased them separately instead of adding to our regular ticket order...made it a little less painful....I know, I know, it's all in my head LOL

Hmmmmm, if it's all in your head, then I am of the same mindset as you. :goodvibes

We are in the same type of quandry. When I first thought, "Hey, we should spend a few days at US/IOA.", I never really added up how much those few couple of days would cost us, adding to our already seemingly expensive trip to WDW. Then I started doing the math for the eight of us.....close to $1,000 for just the tickets alone! That doesn't even include the hotel, transportation, food/drinks, and any extras!

Now I'm stuck. I'm of the mindset that it's way too much of an added expense for just a couple days and we should just scrap the idea and stay at WDW the entire time. My hubby, on the other hand, is set on going.

But geesh, the cost....YOWZA! :scared1:

I don't know what to do. Do it?....Don't do it?....Bite the bullet?....Don't bite the bullet?....Buy tickets now?.....Wait for a deal? :headache: :crazy2:

Well, we feel the same way (well, I do), but we're going forth! We're even leaving WDW and staying onsite, which adds quite a bit to the expense. But I think it's going to be worth it, and I'm sure we'll have fun (even if DS doesn't want to, and DH can't, ride FJ).

So I say do it! :)

Hey, since our trip is so long, it looks like we'll be overlapping at WDW! Hadn't noticed that until just now. :)

Well we stay at Disney every year...it's over 3 grand just for the value hotels for us and then add in MNSSHP, and we're close to 3500-4000 just for WDW. Now hubby has been patient...he absolutely loves scary stuff and wants to go to HHN. I'm a wimp and so I had to wait till oldest son was brave enough to go with him...this year he's 16 so I got them both HHN tickets (300.00) which includes Stay and Scream passes and Express.....but now to get the regular tickets. Ughhhh, it's so expensive when you compare it to the WDW money I'm spending. WDW includes tickets for 5 days, MNSSHP and the QSDP....so for food, tickets and the Halloween party. Over 1000.00 for HHN and 2 days at Universal/IOA is like WHOA, hold up common sense....this is not budget LOL

It's even harder because in 2005 or so they had those buy one annual pass and they'd give you a second year for free. We did that and that was when they offered Power Passes to people outside of FL.....just a bit over 100.00 and we had passes for 2 years (2 or 3 days each year). That was soooo nice, but now annual passes for people outside of FL are crazy....so not an option.

Oh well, again...maybe I'll just buy 1/2 of them now and 1/2 of them in a week or two when the first wound in my bank account heals LOL

If you had power passes at one time, you should call the annual pass line and ask if you can renew them. They had a deal a short while back for anyone who once had passes, no matter what kind, to renew them. It can't hurt to call.

Yea, I could do that....they are usually really nice when I call to ask questions...etc. The only thing is we were a family of 4 then....we've since adopted 3 more LOL They didn't have annual passes....but small detail....we'd still be able to get 4 if they did that and then buy passes for just 3 instead of all 7. Thanks :) for that information.

I was at Costco last week and did not see any tickets. :(

I'm in GA and I've heard the FL ones have them. I do not think it's all of them. The have 3 day tickets for $134, I forgot how much the one day tickets were. that is all they sell.

That's the first non-expiring (well almost -- in 2013) ticket in long time. For $144.99 it is a pretty good deal if you are doing individual days on different vacations. The normal, park to park, 3 day, expire in 14 day ticket is $139.99

It says Shipping and Handling is also included in those Costco tickets....I wish it was a 4 day, we could use 2 days this year and 2 next year and it's cheaper than an annual pass that way, we usually only go 2 days to Universal/IOA each year.

just tried costco and they are all out of tickets, they now how a universal hollywood special. Just decided to order from maple leaf tickets, hope it is legit the deal is great.
