I read something about Disney using "biometrics" (sp?) along with some of their tickets -- scanning your finger when you enter Epcot or something. Is this something they're actually doing?

Thanks!

with the new MYW tickets, you will stick 2 fingers into the ticket machine and it will scan them and associate it with the ticket. Then only you will be able to use that ticket. If you still have older tickets, they do not scan your fingers.

And just to add, because I know it will be asked, biometric readers measure the length of the bones in your fingers, not fingerprints. There isn't any sinister plot by Disney for world domination going on......yet! ::MickeyMo

So if I understand correctly, you still need your ticket, you just need to remember to bring your fingers with you as well :).

Do they do this at all of the parks now?

Actually, this is not a new process at WDW. This biometric procedure has been the norm for annual and seasonal passholders for several years now.

Sometimes the scan does not read your fingers properly. That happened to us when we were there a few weeks ago. There was 3 of us who had to use the finger scan - they did not make the kids 9 and under do it - and almost always one of our did not work. So make sure you bring your license with you when you go to the parks. They told us to keep our licenses with us at all times just in case the scan did not work. (which was often.)

Yes, it is in all the parks. Just make sure you use the same hand each time! I had a problem because I guess I used whatever hand was more convenient to the gate opening for my stroller. I just had to show my liscense and I got through okay.Of course people behind me weren't thrilled!!! :grouphug:
This only happened 1 time in our 7 day stay.

Laugh O. Grams, thanks for the info on what it measured. i was curious because you had to squeeze your 2 fingers together against the center so I figured it couldn't be fingerprints. :confused3
