ticketmania for Cirque

My Mom and brother want tickets for Cirque du Soliel Dec 2, the last day before they go dark for a week. I see that I can get a slight discount through Ticketmania.com and they really want a discount, BUT it says that you buy the tickets, then the make the ressie for you and let you know if they can get seats for when you want them. Has anybody done it this way, how exactly do Cirque tickets work? They would like discounted tickets, but they REALLY want a seat on Dec 2.
