have an 8 day ticket as part of a package for May this year. Just found out DH has a work trip at BWI in September, so looks like I'll be heading back, but what should I do about tickets for the fall trip? upgrade to AP for this trip? do I need to do that soon (are AP prices going to increase before May?) buy tickets from UT for the fall? just wait and get tickets when I know for sure what I need? WWYD? TIA!

1. How many park days will you need at WDW for the entire year?
2. Good idea, if you will, in fact, be needing an AP.
3. Depends on your answer to #1.
4. If you mean wait until your SECOND trip, then no.
If you mean should you make some serious plans NOW, and then buy tickets soon, then yes.

I'd probably upgrade one (but maybe not all) of the package-based tickets to an AP, but because it's package-based you can't upgrade it now. That being said, maybe it's worth looking at separating the tickets from the package and buying an AP now and you'll have the benefits for both trips.

I would price out the cost of an AP vs. the cost of your current 8-day ticket + the ticket you need for the fall. Chances are, it may be more cost effective for you to simply upgrade your 8-day ticket to an AP once your are onsite at the resort. Keep in mind, once you upgrade to that AP, you also have Memory Maker, many dining and merchandise discounts plus the opportunity to purchase a TIW card ($150), which, depending on the restaurants you choose to go to, may offer a further cost savings.
