I have a complicated ticket plan for our upcoming trip, and I need to find out if it is even possible to do the upgrades the way I want to. We are a family of 6 with AP's for everyone but DH. My AP will expire 5 days into my 8-day trip, and my first question is: can I upgrade my AP to a Premium Annual Pass for just the remaining 5 days left on the pass, and then renew at the regular AP rate on my anniversary? I have no need for a PAP for the entire next year, but would like the option of going to the 2 water parks once each, and maybe Disneyquest once during the first 5 days of this trip. I have already planned to upgrade the kids' annual passes to PAP's for this trip, and need to know if I understand the price of doing this. My 2 oldest daughters have adult AP's that expire in Oct., so I divided the difference in cost of the regular AP and the Premium AP by 12(months), which is @ $10.21, then multiplied by 4.5(months left on pass) for a total of @$46 each. I used the same formula to calculate the cost for the younger 2 children's AP's that expire in Dec.($8.70 x 6) for a total of $52.20 each. I had already purchased a 5-day hopper with 4 plus options for DH, who insisted he did not plan to visit the parks as often as the rest of us. Now that the kids have voted to spend a day or 2 at DQ, DH wants a Premium AP as well. Since I did not purchase the 5-day plus hopper directly from Disney, will I be allowed to upgrade it to a Premium AP using my DC discount for the differnce in cost? We have only gone to a waterpark once, and DQ twice in the last 4 years, so I thought we could spend a day or 2 doing something different than the parks this trip since we are going down later than usual(thanks to the crazy weather and a longer school year). And my last question: If it is possible to upgrade the tickets this way, what guest services location would be the best place to do it? Having a CM that knows how to do all these things sure would make my day!:D

No, they won't allow you to do it with so little time remaining. What they will offer you is to renew to a PAP then and they will extend your expiration date 5 days next year.

Yes you will. But you will lose the savings you got by purchasing it from the non-Disney source since the base price for all upgrades are figured at Disney's full gate prices. You'll get your DC discount on it but you'll only get credit for what you actually paid for the 5 day PHP, not what Disney sells it at.

Any Guest Relations can handle it. Guest Services are at the resorts and they cannot do it for you. As far as having a CM who knows what they're doing, you can never be sure anywhere.

Thanks, GoldenOldie! I did not know that my anniversary could be extended on my AP, so that makes things easier. Since I would spend @$100 on 1-day tickets to DQ and waterparks for 3 days, upgrading to a PAP makes sense; I hope I manage to find a CM at a "guest relations" location with the knowledge to do it. I am also glad that I can upgrade my 5-day hopper plus to a PAP, and I am quite happy to get the full credit of what I paid for the ticket. I did not expect to get "gate price" credit, but I was hoping I would not lose any money on it. As for upgrading the kids' AP's to PAP's, is this allowed and did I do the happy math right? Thanks so much!

Yes, it is allowed. I can't answer the math part since the upgrade fees are figured by the computer. ;)
