Ok, after listening to Teresas discussion.

I have extra tickets left over from previous trips with no expiration. If I use those to purchase an annual pass (DVC annual pass) how much credit do I get for them? Most of them have 2 or 3 days left from a 10 day ticket. Do I get the bottom end of the days? ie, like 2 or 3 bucks it cost to go from 9 to 10 day ticket? Or do I get the price of the first day or the price of a 3 day ticket for example if I have 3 days left on the ticket?

It'd be great if they could have Cheshire Figment on the podcast one of these days to ask him all these questions. I bet he'd be a very interesting interview with lots of amazing stories.

I read through and didn't really see the answer, but I think I figured it out. Bascially you get credit for the full cost of the ticket since your start day for the AP becomes the day you first used the ticket. With/without no expiration doesn't matter because you can't upgrade after 14 days anyway. So I'll just keep using my tickets on an as needed basis :) I go get strange looks when I go through the gate with a ticket from 2005, but hey I paid for them!

Don't forget, you can also use unexpired days from a WDW Park Hopper ticket at Disneyland in California.

Several generalities about upgrades (A lot more in Posts # 6, 7, 8, 15-C, 15-D, 15-E and 15-H of the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPAS&S Forum. Click on the link in my signature to get there directly.

1. By definition an upgrade is taking one ticket and adding cash (or similar) and ending up with one ticket with more entitlements. You cannot combine two tickets to get one ticket with more features.*

* The only exception to this rule is at the water parks where you can combine a one day water park ticket with a base or hopping MYW ticket and a payment to end up with a MYW ticket with the WPF&M option. Your payment will be the difference in price between the one day water park ticket and the cost of the WPF&M option plus tax on the difference.

2. No MYW ticket can be upgraded more than 14 days from date of first use.

This does not apply to to Florida Residsent Play-3 and Play-4 tickets which may be upgraded within six months of date of first use or taking an AP and going to a higher level of AP which may be done any time during the validity period.

3. As long as one entry has been used on a ticket the value of the ticket, for upgrade purposes, is equal to the current gate price. It does not matter even if all the Park entries have been used.

4. A pre-2005 ticket cannot be upgraded in any way. If completely unused the dollar amount that it was sold for by Disney can be applied toward the purchase of any new ticket that has an equal or higher value.
