Ticket upgrade to annual pass

Thank you! I paid $343.83/hopper. The credit we were granted was $349.06. The published gate price is $345 pre-tax. It just doesn't feel right. Not sure. Thanks for any help.

The simple answer is...
No matter what you PAID for your ticket, you should have been given the full value of the same kind of ticket
that was being charged for that ticket at the gates.

On what date (approx.) was it that you upgraded?
EXACTLY what kind of ticket did you "trade in?"

Full value as in tax included?
If so, how do I approach getting it resolved? Thank you!!!!

And I said "bridge to an new AP" and I was told it's "to upgrade." The CM never heard bridge or bridging before.

Parksaver 3 day hopper first used today, purchased August 7th. Thank you so much!

I'm wondering the same thing. I have a 9-day hopper I purchased one week ago from the Official Ticket Center (not Disney) for $456 (including tax and shipping). I would like to upgrade to a DVC annual platinum pass (currently valued at $649 plus tax) on January 8 (the last day of our New Year's Eve trip. Assuming everything remains the same (i.e. no price increases between now and then), what should I expect to pay for the AP?

Don't say bridge to a CM -- some will have no idea what you're talking about and some will get agitated about all the Internet experts who explain to people how upgrades are supposed to work. Just say you want to upgrade your ticket to an AP and know exactly how much that upgrade should cost. If the CM doesn't do it correctly, simply say "no thanks" and try again at another location.

The current gate price of a 9 day ticket is $459 plus tax, so you should pay $190 plus tax. ($649-$459)

There's a good chance there will be an AP price increase before then. I would expect it the first weekend in October, that's when it went up last year.

Thanks siskaren and DebbieB. I couldn't remember when the last AP increase happened. I'll watch for that.

Do you happen to know what the tax rate is in the Epcot area? I'm thinking it's 7%, but I'm not sure. Just trying to figure out exactly what I should pay, so I'll know if they've done it right or not.

Debbie, thank you, I didn't even think about the price increasing before our trip. Do you think it is wise to just buy the ap if we know we are getting it, rather than buy the tickets and upgrade once we are there?

Tax on TICKETS is a flat 6.5%, regardless of where they are purchased (and that includes even at the Disney Store in other states than Florida.)

One more question, if you don't mind. If I upgrade , from the 9-day ticket to the Platinum AP at the beginning of my trip, in order to get Memory Maker, will I lose all the FP+ that I made in advance?

Nope.
All FP+ reservations will remain intact.

We just (August) bridged and upgraded unused UT tickets to AP certificates. So it is definitely still possible and you don't have to use the ticket first as others have mentioned.

may I ask,, did you do this on the phone? or in person?

I've never heard that you could use an unused ticket toward an AP renewal! Is that a new thing or am I just living under a rock over here?

just to confuse things more here (I'm so good at that) I was not talking about an AP renewal. but purchasing a new ap

Correct.

This situation has happened recently where a shorter (required) Resort Package ticket was first upgraded to a 10-day ticket (and the ticket WAS price-bridged at that time) but the ticket was still never used at all. (The guest was actually using a current AP during that same trip.)
But, then, on the NEXT trip, the guest wanted to use that previously-upgraded 10 day ticket to help pay for a new AP.
There had been a ticket price increase during the interim time.
The guest wanted that 10-day ticket to be price-bridged (a second time) before it was upgraded to an AP.
Since that 10-day ticket had already been price-bridged once, it was no longer considered to be the original Resort Package ticket, and was not eligible to be price-bridged at the time of the AP upgrade.

(Incidentally, in the above case, the guest WAS given one-time-only "pixie dust" and was allowed the second price-bridging by a WDW manager.)

ok, I think that was me...and I think there is a misundersatnding.. I did not.. at the time of that free dining trip with the required 2 day tickets... do anything with those tickets.. I just let them lie still.. in hibernation, if you will......yes we had current AP at the time. I did NOT, at that time, try to bridge them to a 10 day/ no need our AP was current for the entire trip, and expired right after the end of that trip..

we try to go 2X a year.. but, if we time it right, we can get 3 trips out of ONE AP (so we buy an AP once every year and a half. example late spring, fall, early spring... OR the next year..late fall, spring, early fall)

.......... it was months later......so now we were in the "gap" between annual passes.
(I gueses I should ahve included more info instead of opting for brevity lol)

shortly before the NEXT trip I was concerned because, even though we were planning on upgrading or bridging our required, 2 day hopper passes(which we had not yet touched, upgraded, or done anything with.) tp AP on our trip... I could only make fast passes for 2 days. even though we we had reservations at a disney resort . (because we only had 2 day tickets didn't matter what we INTENDED to do.. ie, upgrade to AP)

It was THEN that I called on the phone (long after that free dining trip) and, during THAT phone call(long after the free dining trip) THOUGHT I had bridged the 2 day hopper tickets to a 10 day ticket. (I was told I couldn't upgrade to an AP unless I wanted it to start on that date) so I thought I bridged from a 2 day to a 10 day, just so I could make fast passes. and then intended on upgrading the 10day to an AP in person.
