Ticket to AP ugrade question

Let me preface this by saying this question is a bit different than the ones I can find previously posted.

We are heading on our first trip in May. All of my calculations for the last year had built in buying an AP and reserving our hotel rooms with the AP rate of about 35% discount for Deluxe rooms. However, all the discounts now showing are for 20% and no different than the spring offer.

Here is where I am hoping to receive some advice. Because the discount rate is much lower than what I had estimated at, it makes purchasing an AP not feasible as the cost would not be offset by my calculated savings. This would mean I would have to purchase my ticket through my employer's discounted ticket rates. As I have to purchase them over a month in advance (company rules) my family and I would all physically have our ticket before we leave to Orlando.

My questions would be in the event a AP hotel discount rate comes out higher than the 20% now showing how would I be able to upgrade my ticket to an AP? I only see that Florida residents can upgrade a ticket to an AP. Also, since I would need to show my AP at hotel check in what would I need to do in order to upgrade my ticket to an AP and then head to the hotel to check in?

Thanks for the help.

If you have a standard MYW ticket, you can upgrade it to AP after arrival.

If it is some other kind of ticket, it may not be upgradeable. Yesterday there was a thread on the DVC boards regarding Tickets at Work, which many corporations participate in for discounted tickets, and one person on that thread said there were unable to upgrade their tickets they had purchased through them. I have no personal experience.

My company gets a discount direct from Disney. When we have gotten them for Disneyland they are identical to regular tickets just at a better discount than most places. Would Disney even be able to tell me if I could upgrade if I called? The tickets would be 5 day park hoppers but our internal website makes no distinction of whether they are MYW tickets or not.

I'm taking a wild guess that if you get standard DL tickets, you would get standard WDW tickets. I think to be sure you would have to ask someone at your company or someone who purchased them before.
