Ticket Question

I hope someone can help me with this question. We are WDW AP holders. We are visiting DL for the first time ever (SOOO excited!) in August. We are spending 5 nights at the Villas at the Grand Californian, so we will need park admission for 5 days. Park hopping is a must.

I think we have 2 options: Option 1 is to upgrade our APs to the Premier Pass. Our APs expire August 14th so they will cover the DL trip. However they are DVC renewal APs, so I have no idea how much will be credited to buying the Premier Pass, as I know there is no DVC price on those.

The other option is to just buy DL admission separately. If this is the best option, where can I get the best price on a 5 day park hopper? We will need to buy 2 adult and 2 child tickets. This is all so new to me. Thanks so much for your help!

What was the cost of your current WDW AP? You will have to pay the full difference between that and the Premier, which is $749 plus tax on the FL portion ( I think it comes out to be $780ish I believe). Meanwhile an adult 5-day hopper if you buy it online in advance from Disneyland.com is $246 ($226 for kids).

I'm almost certain that it's going to be cheaper for you to just buy 5-day hoppers for everybody, since remember, your upgrade to a Premier pass is not pro-rated, and the pass will still expire on August 14th.

Unless you have the premium WDW AP, it'll probably be cheaper to get regular tickets. But possibly look at upgrading one for the food and merchandise discounts.

We have regular (non-Premium) WDW APs. We paid $398.31 x2 for the adult passes and $367.43 x2 for the kids passes.

So, if the Premier Pass is around $780, that's a difference of $$381.69 per adult pass and $412.57 per kid pass. Well, I guess we're not upgrading. It will be cheaper to just buy regular DL admission.

Where do you recommend we buy our DL tickets? Thanks so much for your help!

Yup, not worth it in your case even with the discounts. I'd recommend buying your tickets directly from Disneyland.com to take advantage of the online advance purchase discount. You can print them at home and take them directly to the turnstiles - no need to exchange them at a ticket booth or anything like that. Hand them to the person at the turnstile and they will hand you a smaller ticket that you'll use to get FP's during your trip. That's how I always buy my tickets!

I would also just buy them direct from Disney.
In 2010 we got a great deal - 5 day parkhopper tickets for the price of 3 days! So I think it is worth waiting to like a month before your trip, to see if a deal comes up! You never know :D
Have you booked the GC? Isn't it cheaper to buy a package? I'm not sure at all, but maybe?? :)

Have a magical trip!!

Sounds like a plan- Thank you!

Yes, we are booked at the VGC using our DVC points. So a package isn't an option for us. Thanks, though!
