Ticket Question

Instead of buying a 5 day park hopper, can't I get a 10 day no park hopper and use the extra days to go to multiple parks in 1 day? We just want to be able to go to epcot to eat dinner, but we don't want to do epcot that much.

Sorry no, a base 10 day MYW is good for one park per day.

If you want to hop you must get the PH option.

To add to what chartle said, the computers running the turnstiles are all connected to a single network. They do know if you've already used your ticket to enter a park on any given day. If you had, then the turnstile at park #2 can read from your ticket that you have already been on another park and will not allow you to enter park #2. The CM at the turnstile has no way to override this and will give you the option to go over to Guest Relations to upgrade your tickets to park hoppers if you really want to enter that park.

Also to add, it is a $50 upgrade to the park hopper. You can do that once you are at the parks if you wish. It does not need to be done right away but is still $50 regardless of how many days on the ticket.

True! On the CM's side it will read 'Crossover not permitted'. They will tell you that ticket has already been used for that day and then either tell you to go back to that first park or to go to guest services to add the park hopper to the ticket. After the fifth day it costs only about $3.00 for each subsequent day, whereas a park hopper costs a flat $50.00 to add to any ticket, no matter the length of that ticket. It would be much cheaper for everyone to just buy a 10 day ticket and Disney knows this, which is why they don't allow it. If you look at a base ticket it will say right on it that it is 'good for only one park per day'. It is not valid for hopping.

Don't worry about park hoppers if you have a Very Merry Christmas or Night of Joy ticket. You are still admitted to the party, typically any time after 4 PM, (but not for an ordinary restaurant reservation using the same ticket card you used earlier) if you came from another park with a non-hopper.

I actually have 2 tickets. A 10 day no expire and a 7 day no expire. Couldn't I use one at magic kingdom, then the other at epcot in the same day? OR are the turnstiles that smart and they connect the fingerprints?

First the scan they do does not take your finger print. It gets just enough info to link you to your ticket not identify you.

But yes you can you two completely different tickets in the same day.

If you do this at some point it makes more sense to just get the park hopper and not waste the days on the ticket.

Since the tickets have the no expiration option then yes you could do this (it's important to have that option otherwise you're really wasting the second ticket as it would expire 14 days from first use). As PP said though, this may make no financial sense, but it is an option.

Have you already purchased these tickets? I got the impression that you haven't. If you tell us what tickets you already have in hand and what tickets you're obligated to buy with your current package (if any) and when your next planned trip after the one we're discussing will be then we'll be better able to offer you the best suggestion for how to accomplish what you want to accomplish.

First-Thanks for the time and help!
I already have the above tickets (a 10 day no expire-already used 4 days-and a 7 day no expire that I was going to upgrade to the more days-not used yet).
We are coming in December during free dining, so I have to buy a 2 day ticket. We have a toddler, so we do not want to park hop that much. We want to have dinner at Epcot on 2 different nights, so I thought I could just use 1 of the days off of 1 of the existing tickets I already have.
Maybe I should add the park hopper to the 7 day, and use that one on the days I know we will be going to dinner at Epcot?
