I keep reading that getting AP's are a good value if you stay for more that 10 - 12 days. I keep doing the math and can't seem to get it even close. We are purchasing MYW 10 day park hoppers. They are priced right around $900 for all of us. There are 4 of us. 2 Adults and 2 children (9 now but will turn 10 in December). I priced out the AP's for all of us and that came to 1661.42. I figure even if we stay for another 7days next year we are barely getting a good deal. Am I missing something here? Maybe a little mental push to the thinking here. Thanks everyone..... :)

If you are staying on property, the AP discount for your resort is substantial, sometimes up to 45% on the deluxes.
Most folks try to get in another vacation before the passes expire.

This is one of those cases where you are "saving" money, not saving it. ;)

Remember, you must figure the MYW tickets as NON-EXPIRING for your comparison. Also, if you wanted to visit the parks every day for 12 days, you'd need to buy more than one MYW ticket per person (10 day max. per tix).

I buy AP's and save a LOT of money.
On the resort, AND the table service lunches, AND DTD discounts, AND we visit for up to 30 days in one year (3 separate visits.)

The breakeven is about 12 days with hopping and without non-expiration, not counting AP perks and not counting MYW ticket advance purchase discounts.

The premium AP is never a bargain over the regular AP unless you do at least 4 water park fun visits (five if you include Pleasure Island and where multiple PI visits in any 6 day span count as one visit).

I often chose the premium AP because I like to make many short visits rather than few long visits to water park fun locations.

Only one adult (<-- recent change) needs an AP to get the AP perks for the family.

Irrelevant until they commence using new tickets after that. 3-9yo's keep on using their same old tickets (exchanged for an adult ticket at no cost if a CM calls on the person regarding that subject).
