Ticket Question- Upgrade?

Hopefully someone can help. I can't find the ticket sticky. Please help me clarify.

1. If we book a reservation with Free Dining it looks like a 2-day ticket purchase has always been required (unless that changes of course). Can that ticket still be saved for a future trip and not used this trip (we have other Tickets we were planning on using)? Do we ask for copies of the tickets so they are not just floating around in MDE?

2. According to the rules that still stand, that ticket should be able to be upgraded and price bridged when we choose to use them, correct? My concern is with all of the changes Disney is making and perhaps they won't allow ticket upgrades in the future so we will have a 2-day hopper. Is that a likely scenario or am I paranoid?

3. If the rumor about adding the PH is true for the Free Dining package, I am noticing when pricing out trips on the website that a PH for the 2-day ticket we were planning on buying is about $50 where the PH add on for a longer ticket stay is more like $60. Is that price discrepancy going to be a problem when upgrading the ticket (assuming that is still permitted in the future). I imagine if we upgrade to an 8-day it would be the cost difference of the number of days plus the added longer PH cost, right?

My head is spinning. I don't know how everyone does it...

1. MDE is a storage area for your specific data. Your tickets will remain in your account.

2. I believe you have presented an unlikely scenario.

3. When upgrading after first using your ticket, you'll pay the difference:
8 day PH cost - 2 day PH cost = $ amount you will owe.

Tickets can be used for future trips, yes.
It could be upgraded and yes, should be used for a park entry first for bridging purposes.
Cost would be (under current rules)

1. Yes, you can use it at a later date. When you check in, I would ask to have the 2-day pulled off your MDE (in an effort to prevent any confusion by MDE as to what tix should be used) & request physical tix that you can take home & put in a drawer/safe place.

2. I think it's paranoia. At least for the reasonably foreseeable future.

3. No problem. You would still pay the difference in the total cost for what you have vs. what you want.

Before your trip add on new friends in MDE:
Ticket Storage Adult
Ticket Storage Child

And, reassign your 2-day PH tickets to the correct Storage friends, when you are ready to use them on a future trip, reassign them to the correct people. In this way, you do not have to ask for a plastic ticket and they are safely in your MDE and cannot be used until you are ready for them.

And here is the ticket thread that was a sticky. I think the lack of updates and a few things out of date (pricing, etc) contributed to it losing its sticky status.
