We are staying 9-22 through 9-29 at Shades of Green & then 9-29 through Oct. 4th at a deluxe for the free dining (hopefully!) We will be using our 10 day passes that we buy through Shades of Green throughout our entire stay.
I know we will have to purchase a 1 day ticket for our stay at the deluxe in order to get the free dining -
my question is does it matter if we use the 1 day ticket on the last day of our trip, or is it automatically for the beginning of our deluxe stay?

You will most likely have to purchase a 2 day ticket for free dining, not a 1 day (I haven't looked at the new VISA offer that came out today, but that has been the requirement for a few years.)

You don't have to use the tickets though at all. You can just keep them until a future trip.

I believe the PP is correct. Unless things have changed very recently, you need to buy a one day ticket in order to purchase the dining plan, but you have to buy a 2 day ticket to qualify for free dining.

According to your OP, you are staying at SOG for nearly 2 weeks, so is it safe to assume that you would have used up your first set of tickets before moving over to the deluxe? Since they are only good for 14 days after being first used, you would want to make sure they had no days left on them before starting to use the new ones at the deluxe.

Looks like the OP is only there for 12-13 days total, so their 10 day tickets should be fine (assume they are planning a few days off). I believe OP's intention was not to use up their 10 days tickets, but to use them for both stays (their SOG stay is only 8 days). But I could be wrong on that - but that would be the best plan if they have a future trip planned - use the FD tickets on that future trip and just upgrade them as needed.

Thanks for the responses! Yes Vicki - we are at Shades of Green for 8 days, and then Beach Club or whatever for 5 days. The Military Shades of Green 10 day pass expires 11 days after first use, so I will probably have to use my other 2 day pass for the end of our stay at the deluxe.
Thank you both for your help!

You're right about the length of stay. Man, I wonder if a person can become math dyslexic....:confused3. Thanks for catching that.

I did not realize that SoG military tickets had different expirations than normal MYW tickets, so you taught me something as well! I know a lot about tickets and very very little about military ticket options!

I am not sure why you chose the MYW Stars and Stripes tickets. Did you want all the features, such as Park Hopping and Waterparks/Disneyquest? I was just thinking that you could get the Armed Forces Salute 4-day tickets for the first 4 days of your trip. They come with PH or WPF&M for $138, or PH and WPF&M for $165. Even after you used up all four park days, the four Waterparks/Disneyquest options are good and usable thru Sept. 30th. When you need more park days, you could get your 10-day tickets. Possibly you will only need 8-9 days. If you don't need the Waterparks/Disneyquest feature after Sept. 30th, just get a regular MYW ticket with PH only. It will save you $55/ticket to not have Waterparks/Disneyquest.

As far as the two-day tickets required for purchase with the Disney FD package, take them home, unused, and bring them with you next visit. They never expire if they remain unused and they are fully upgradable (thru Disney ticket facilities only). How Disney tickets work is, the first few park days are priced highest; after the 4th day they only cost $8/day. So in your case, your tickets for next trip will be well on their way to being paid for. Lots of people take their 2-day tickets home to use later. I have some at home right now.

These are just suggestions I am throwing out. If they don't apply to your needs, please stay with your proposed plans.

Poohsie, thank you for your help! I should have mentioned that I cannot do the military 4 day $138 deal because we are staying as Veterans in september for their salute the vets program and we are not entitled to buy those tickets. But thanks for trying to help! :goodvibes

That's OK. Enjoy your stay at SOG and BC.
