Ticket Options

i think bumbershoot was saying that the military prices have a different price encoded into the ticket (which is lower than what you paid) so you have to pay a bigger difference.

I thought so too at first, but if you read what bumbershoot said:
and now you have to pay a total of 269 instead of 259!
you see that's not the case, so I just wanted to get the correct info out there.

We got our 8 day park hopper through getawaytoday for $204. The only other option is to buy them at the park for $244....but I dont see the point in doing that......!

I purchased our 8 day PH's from GAT 4 days ago. When I placed the order, it indicated I would receive an email "shortly". I've yet to receive the email and have spoken to them over the phone twice........still nothing. And no, it's not going to my junk folder either.

The reps I spoke with on the phone said I'll just need to give them my name at the ticket booth to pick up our tickets. I'm fine with that but I would like to get some sort of confirmation as is standard with pretty much anything you order online. Can someone share their experience with this? And also, if you did in fact receive an email, what information is contained in that email? Thanks!

Here is the email I got, then I received a package my mail. The San Diego zoo tickets have a voucher with my name on it. The Disneyland sheet has no name and just says to go to the ticket booth and give your name in order to get your tickets. But you do get the receipt (below) in the package AS WELL. So that is a proof with your name, address, cc number and what kind of tickets you bought...

No, that IS the case.

If I buy a hopper from disneyland.com that is 194 and I upgrade to an AP that costs 259, I'm paying a total of 259.

If I pay 140 for a hopper that is encoded with 130, I'm paying 259 minus 130 to upgrade, so 129 difference. Added to the 140 I paid for that ticket initially, and my total paid is 269.

This is coming straight from a recent post by a person who buys military tickets and has upgraded, I'm not just making it up. :) Here is the post.

We did receive e-mail confirmation and mailed invoices, but you can also access this on the GAT site under "My Vacation" and then "Vacation History". When you click "View" to the right of the date of your payment, you will see a "receipt".

:) Figured I'd answer "out loud" as well as replying to your PM.

The price you paid is encoded in the ticket, if not printed directly on it. Our hoppers from Costco Travel didn't have the price on them, but the AP people could see it on their computer, and they knew just what to charge me.

As I mentioned in the PM, this is one way DLR differs from WDW. At WDW once you use the hopper, the new price is somehow put onto that ticket, so if you upgrade, you keep whatever discount you had. But with DLR that doesn't happen. You'll always end up paying the current price of the AP, at the time you upgrade, so unless you really need the "layaway" option, where you're saving money up over time, there's no need to get discounted tickets, as the total will be the same.

There's even a problem that was re-mentioned here recently, when people think about upgrading from specially discounted military tickets, where you'd end up paying MORE than the AP cost, b/c you are paying the more for the hoppers than is encoded on the ticket. So you pay 150 when the ticket is encoded with 140, and now you have to pay a total of 269 instead of 259! But that doesn't impact you, I'm just chatting. :)

If you're going to upgrade immediately, just know you won't get both MMs of the GAT tickets. As soon as you upgrade, you lose the MMs from the ticket. :( But if you're staying onsite, that doesn't matter, b/c you get it from the hotel (unadvertised perk).

Since you're planning on spending the money to upgrade, and planning on upgrading before using the 2nd MM from GAT, I personally would just buy from disneyland.com. Buying from them, you print out the voucher and take that voucher straight to the GATES, not the ticket booths like with GAT, where the voucher is turned into a ticket.

That is soooooooooooooo helpful!!

Ok, one more question. We will be going Sept 12-21 and we plan to get hoppers and upgrade to AP. We will be stayinng at the Park Vue for the first 4 nights, then DLH for the next 3 nights, then GC for the last two nights. So if I get the 8-day hoppers from Getaway, will we be able to take advantage of the two MM's between the 13th (Sat) and the 16th (Tue)? I guess what my question really boils down to, is what days can you do the MM when you're not staying on property? Obviously, we want to take advantage of any MM's we can get while we're at the Park Vue and before we upgrade to AP's.

Ok, and I guess I have another question... EVERY morning you're staying on property you can get MM? Or is it just certain days of the week?

So you're at PV for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights? Meaning you check into Disney property on Tuesday?

MM is offered on the S and T days, so Sat, Sun, Tues, and Thurs.

Here's the plan if you want to milk every last bit of MM out of your trip. :goodvibes

I also see no blocked out dates in September, so you're not limited in when to upgrade by that.

If you're getting in on the 12th and that's a Friday, pick up your tickets that day at the ticket booths (you don't have to go into the parks if that's not the plan). Then you can use your GAT MMs on Sat and Sun.

You could upgrade to the APs on Sunday after the MM hour, and start earning those discounts!

If you go to DLH and check in EARLY on Tuesday, as in well before the MM starts, you could then take part in the MM on check-in day to the DLH. You don't even have to check out of PV yet; you could be totally ready to check out and send someone over later to do it and bring the bags to DLH. :)

And then you'll have the MMs for the Sat/Sun/Tues/Thurs days for rest of your trip, despite having the AP, since you'll be on property. :goodvibes

PERFECT! That's exctly what I needed to know.

You have been soooooooo helpful to me on multiple threads. You are my new best friend! :lovestruc

This is a very good plan. :thumbsup2

Question (because I seem to think this was the case for us). Does everyone in the party need to be there at check in at the DLH (at 7am-ish) in order to obtain the "hotel slip" that gets the family (everyone) into MM (that morning)....or just one person?

Probably good to know prior to heading to the DLH from the Park Vue.

& if it was me....I'd just get up early on moving day & MOVE to the DLH prior to MM....park in the DLH lot & be done with it. (Then you can enjoy your mid day rest at the DLH w/o messing with moving.....just unpacking).

Hound, I don't see any reason why they would require your entire party to be there at check-in. I normally check in for my entire family while they are waiting in the car, or off doing something else like exploring the hotel grounds (yep, done this at the DLH and GCH). Once you check-in and provide the credit card to the CM at the desk, they present you with your charge slip, which is good for up to 6 people total (whether they are staying with you at the on-site property, or not).

HTH!

Thanks for setting me straight Dangermouse

Maybe it was because we were checking in & getting our parkhopper tickets at that time too......(or maybe i'm just having a 51 y/o senior moment).

(or maybe they wanted to eyeball the "family Hound"....which resembles the Clampett family.... before allowing us on the property. :) :hippie: )

I don't want them eyeballing my family. . . which after a 7 hour drive resembles the Casey Jr. Circus Train. . .

:simba: :dumbo: :stitch:

which is why they are still in the car or running amok on the hotel grounds. . . ;) :rolleyes1

Fine, but I am in the military myself, and have done this too. Our military hoppers were encoded with the price we paid for them, so when we upgraded to Deluxe APs, we paid the difference for a total of $259. Same applied for the one hopper we upgraded to a premium AP.
