We are going to be going to Disneyland in September. My first visit since about 1978 and brand new for my partner.

I have a question about tickets. I see that Disney only sells up to a 5 day park hopper. Are there 6 day park hoppers available, or are those only available with a package vacation?

(Please note - we are NOT California residents)

For DLR, I believe 5 days is the most you can get on park hoppers. For more days than that, I guess you should look into annual passes.

I also need a 6 day park hopper for our Aug/Sep vacation to DLR. Last time I contacted Disney Travel Company via telephone and they were able to sell me the 6 day park hopper over the phone. We then just picked up our "package" - tickets only, no accommodation from the DTC office in Downtown Disney.

The number I called was the regular number you ring to book their travel packages. Sorry can't remember now what it is, but it's on the website.

I am planning on doing the same thing again for our forthcoming trip, I did call them a few months back and they said it wouldn't be a problem. Also I think if you live in the US they will even post the package (tickets, souveneir luggage tags and laynard) to you.

From memory it's still better value than the annual pass. I think that once you get above 8 days, then the AP is the better option.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Angela

You can buy up to 8 day park hopper tickets from getawaytoday.com. This would also get you two Magic Morning entries. The cost for those is $204 per person for the 8 day hoppers. The 6 day park hoppers are $199 per person. If you buy the tickets through WDTC, you only get one Magic Morning.

Wow- good info to know. The DL website and our military ticket office only sell up to a 5-day hopper. Thanks!

I very much agree with this.....the 7 & 8 day hoppers are just a few dollars more than the 5 & 6 day hoppers with getawaytoday. Get a hopper that includes your "arrival day"...your "middle of the week break day"....& your departure day.

The best time to tour is very early or late. Even on days you're not planning on going into the parks.......go in at rope drop or near closing & enjoy DL in bliss w/o crowds for one or two hours....the extra days parkhoppers cost peanuts.

Even if one intends to spend "just 5 days in the parks".....get a 7 or 8 day parkhopper......because you can. :hippie:

I booked through AAA and got a 6 day park hopper...

Did you buy a stand alone 6 day park hopper through AAA or did you book a vacation package?

I'm very interested. In my original posting, I said that the 6 or 7 day was available with a package, but could not find it as a stand alone ticket, so if you found it as a stand alone ticket option without booking a package, I'd be very much interested as I would like one too (which is why I posted to begin with :goodvibes)

Thank you so much for this!:cool1:

I had searched and could not find anyone who is selling anything other than 5 day hoppers. This will work out MUCH cheaper than my having to book a package!

Great. :)

& i believe you'll get 2 days of MM (instead of 1).

* but if you're staying "on site" you'll get MM each day it's offered.

Ask the board, but i think you'll have to pick up the tickets at the DL ticket booth. (as opposed to it being mailed)....but hopefully someone will chime in.

With getawaytoday you pick up the tickets at the ticket booth. They work sort of like an airline e-ticket. You show your ID and they print up the tickets right there, you take them to the turnstyles and there you go. Very easy. Then you just use the turnstyles each time you enter after that. Ticket booth only once.

Just so you know, getawaytoday is great to work with and very helpful, they also have a guarantee. We have used them before and will use them again.

HTH!!

Yep, for the park hoppers from GAT, you have to pick them up at the park :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here. We've always purchased and printed our park hoppers directly from DL's website. However, this time we decided to just get the 8-day park hoppers since we were going to be in the parks for 5 days anyway and our vacation is 10 days. Hound made the great point of just going early or late on those other 3 days since the tickets are only $10 more. (Thanks for jogging my brain on that one Hound!) Anyway, we are about to purchase our 8-day park hoppers from GAT tomorrow and the tickets are supposed to be mailed to us via their standard delivery. I confirmed delivery method over the phone and the rep told me they would be mailed via USPS Priority Mail. Can others confirm getting the actual tickets in the mail and there being no need to stop at the ticket booth?

This isn't a package, only tickets. :)

Sorry, you will have to stop at the ticket booths. :sad2: GAT does not send actual tickets and you do not print them out yourself. The package you will probably be receiving is lanyards and pins. They have always sent us lanyards and pins with every package we have ordered and also included the hotel voucher. I seem to remember some time ago a thread about just getting tickets from GAT and since that is what we are doing this time I paid attention. The thread indicated that when you ordered tickets only from GAT you also got the lanyard and pins (one for every ticket). Not that we need another GAT lanyard!! :lmao: I'm pretty sure we have about 10 floating around our house.

I think you can pick up your tickets, say the night before you actually go in the park, or you can do it the morning you first go. Or however you plan to work your first day. :)

So if we buy 8-day parkhoppers from GAT for $204 (so that we can get Saturday), and then upgrade to APs on Sunday, what is the cost? Is it $259 (cost of AP) - $204? or $259 - $239 (cost of most expensive 5-day parkhopper from Disney)? or something else? Does Disney know what I pay GAT?

I see nobody's mentioned this so far: when you order your tickets online from GAT, use the discount code "podcast". It gets you $10 off, which is the cost of their processing fee. So the tickets really will cost you the same as through DLT.

:) Figured I'd answer "out loud" as well as replying to your PM.

The price you paid is encoded in the ticket, if not printed directly on it. Our hoppers from Costco Travel didn't have the price on them, but the AP people could see it on their computer, and they knew just what to charge me.

As I mentioned in the PM, this is one way DLR differs from WDW. At WDW once you use the hopper, the new price is somehow put onto that ticket, so if you upgrade, you keep whatever discount you had. But with DLR that doesn't happen. You'll always end up paying the current price of the AP, at the time you upgrade, so unless you really need the "layaway" option, where you're saving money up over time, there's no need to get discounted tickets, as the total will be the same.

There's even a problem that was re-mentioned here recently, when people think about upgrading from specially discounted military tickets, where you'd end up paying MORE than the AP cost, b/c you are paying the more for the hoppers than is encoded on the ticket. So you pay 150 when the ticket is encoded with 140, and now you have to pay a total of 269 instead of 259! But that doesn't impact you, I'm just chatting. :)

If you're going to upgrade immediately, just know you won't get both MMs of the GAT tickets. As soon as you upgrade, you lose the MMs from the ticket. :( But if you're staying onsite, that doesn't matter, b/c you get it from the hotel (unadvertised perk).

Since you're planning on spending the money to upgrade, and planning on upgrading before using the 2nd MM from GAT, I personally would just buy from disneyland.com. Buying from them, you print out the voucher and take that voucher straight to the GATES, not the ticket booths like with GAT, where the voucher is turned into a ticket.

Thanks, Bumbershoot! I sent you a PM, too, and I'm glad you posted it here because others will likely also find your info interesting. We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel, so the MM won't matter. I'm going to get two 5-day hoppers direct from Disney for the two girls (DD15 and friend) and upgrade them to APs on the fifth day (which is a Sunday) because they are going back to DL in March with their high school band. So then they get Saturday in the parks with the hoppers. But I'm going to get two 7-day hoppers from GAT for myself and my husband for $204, since we won't be upgrading to APs. That will give all four of us 7 days (or parts of 7 days) in the parks. Appreciate all the help! And thanks for the "podcast" code, too, Avalon!

That doesn't make sense. When you upgrade, you pay the difference between the price of the ticket you have and the current AP price. You would not end up paying more overall for the AP- your difference is just a bit more.

Example:
You buy a hopper that costs $150. Upgrade to AP paying the difference of $109 for a total of $259.

Buy a military hopper for $140. Upgrade to AP paying the difference of $119 for a total of $259.
