Ticket help

I am not sure if this is the right board to ask this on, but I'm pretty sure that there are people on the budget board that can help me.

My parents are planning to join my family for a couple of days at the parks. Many years ago, they purchased a 5 Day Plus Super Pass. They have only used 3 of those days. My question is, are the other two days still good, like today's non-expire tickets.

As always, saving money is a concern, at it would be MUCH less expensive for my parents if they did not have to purchase new tickets. Thank you so much for any help you can offer!

Here is the link to the ticket sticky, and Cheshire Figment is the expert who can answer your question. Generally, pre-MYW tickets did not expire, but I don't know what a 5 Day Plus Super Pass is. I'm guessing it is a 5-day hopper that also had "plus" entries, which are now Water Park Fun and More entries.

The remaining days of the Super Duper pass are still valid, but any water park fun probably expired 7 days after the pass was first used.

If they are going to spend more than four days in the parks, it would be better to not use the Super pass but instead add more days (about $5. apiece per person) to the other pass just purchased for that vacation.

Hopper passes of the 1998-2004 era with water park fun (not all have it) can still be used at the water parks but were never valid at Disney Quest.

If they didn't use all of the days on the pass, then they *should* still be valid. There are no guarantees, since Disney gets to have the final word on how whether there are days left or not.

They would need to go to guest service outside of their first park in order to have tickets with a magnetic strip issued as a replacement to the older passes. They will need it to get thru the turnstiles and to get Fastpasses.

I thought that you could no longer upgrade/add days to old (pre-2005) tickets??

Right. I think what Seashore CM is saying is that if you have to buy tickets for this trip (they are staying more than two days), it might be more cost effective to buy what they need for this trip and save the old passes instead of buying new and using the old. It only costs about $5 per day to add days once you get to a four-day ticket.

My DM ran into a problem several years ago expecting to be able to use leftover tickets. The original tickets had X number of park days (5, I think) and then some water park visits also that had to be used within 7 days of initial use (like a PP said). All of the park days had NOT been used. But on the later trip (after MYW tickets started) when she had them checked at guest services, they counted the water park days just like the park visits and said the cards had no usable days left.

Hope someone has better news than I do.

It really depends on the type of ticket.

If your DM had an Unlimited Magic Pass or a Length of Stay Pass then those entitlements expired at midnight of the day that they checked out of their Disney resort.

If it was a convention/meeting pass, then it expired a certain number of days after the meeting ended - usually a week.

But there are other passes out there that had no expiration date like the old Park Hoppers and Park Hopper Plus passes.
