ticket exchange question

So, at the school fundraiser I won a trip to Cancun (well, a stay at a resort), BUT we are doing a big Disney/Universal trip this summer. I offered to trade the Cancun stay to anyone who would give me park-to-park Disney or Universal tickets. Someone offered me Disney tickets. We are only going to Disney 2 or 3 days. If there are more days on the park hopper tickets they have to trade (they are not sure right now -- they are not home, long story), can I go to the ticket office and split tickets... so, say there are 5 day hopper tickets. Could I say get a 2-day hopper to Disney World and a 2 or 3 days hopper tickets to Disneyland (which we plan to visit in a few years)? Any ideas? My son really prefers Universal, so the two or three days are really for me and we have just a set amount of time in Orlando, so I cannot really use more days at this time.

normally I would give the recommendation that to be legal they must offer cash equivalents to all prizes that you request but there are exceptions to that and school fundraisers I think is one of htem.. but good to remember for future..

All I'm going to say on the ticket matter is be VERY careful. tickets once they start being used expire after a couple weeks, but there was a time you could make them non-expiring. they may or may not let you use them or upgrade them. IT's really risky so make sure you trust where they are coming from..

I'd probably reach out to who provided the prize and see if I could trade them in. Most likely it was a travel agency that could turn them into theme park tickets.

They're not going to split the tickets into a mix of WDW and DLR tickets. The first couple days on the tickets are always the most expensive, and giving 2 sets of tickets would be worth a lot more monetary value.

Most school fundraisers get their prizes through soliciting businesses for in-kind donations or asking people directly for in-kind donations. A resort stay was most likely donated by the resort itself, the resort chain, or a person who owns a timeshare. Travel agencies do not have access to free WDW tickets, so I am going to bet it is highly unlikely, if the Cancun stay was donated by an agency (which I doubt as an agency would be more likely to donate a gift certificate good toward a future booking) that they could exchange this for theme park tickets. Schools and other non-profit organizations do not need to offer cash in lieu of fundraiser prizes. For future reference (if you are ever involved in the school's fundraiser), you can ask Disney directly for ticket donations for fundraisers. You have to do it through a donation website and the school will most likely receive 4, 1-day park hopper passes that cannot be upgraded.

I agree. Be really careful with the tickets you may receive. If they were ever used and they did not add the, now non-existent non-expire option, the tickets are most likely expired. And, as others stated, you can't split a ticket. If it's a 5-day ticket, it's a 5-day ticket. You can certainly use less days, but you cannot exchange that for two separate tickets.

You cannot split the tickets.

I advise you to be very careful to know exactly what you're getting with these tickets. You need to be completely sure that the tickets have never been used. Unless you completely trust the person giving them to you, don't go through with it.
