Ticket Conundrum: Military (Armed Forces Salute) question

We are going to WDW for 10 days in July. Initially, we figured we would get the 5 day AFS military tickets (the Hopper Plus version). We only go to the theme parks in the late afternoon/evenings in the summer. I figured 5 nights of parks, a couple water park days on the alternating days.

BUT...part of me just wants more days in the parks. But, I'm not certain of that right now.

My question is, if we get these tickets, and then decide we want MORE park days, can we upgrade these tickets to MWY tickets, using the face value of the Armed Forces Salute ticket? So, if we wanted to change them to 8 day MYW tickets, could we just pay the difference and do that? For example, an 8 Day MYW Park Hopper is $500. The Armed Forces Salute ticket we will have costs $286. Could we pay the additional $214 and turn the ticket into the 8 Day MYW Hopper?

Could we do it if the tickets are partially used? Like, if we use 4 days and decide we want more, still the same protocol?

Yes.
And, you will still get the full value of the original ticket in the upgrade.

You have until close-of-business on the same day that you use the last asset on the original ticket.

Yes.

(Tax will enter into this, of course.)

Can the "use value of ticket to purchase new ticket" be done AFTER said ticket has been used or would it need to be done before it is used?

Sorry...saw that they asked the same question, no need to answer

However, just want to be sure. Are you sure the SALUTE tickets can be used in this way? I've always seen that these are not upgradeable in any way. I understand using the face value is a little different than adding days, but I've just not seen them used in this way before.

There used to be language to this effect on the fine print of the AFS ticket offer. I read through all of it for the 2018 offer and did not see anything like that, which is what prompted me to ask here. Perhaps Disney removed those restrictions?

Thanks! At this point it's about 50/50 whether we will want more than 5 days, and I don't want to pay too much for longer tickets upfront that we may not end up using all the days of. Knowing we can do this adds a lot of flexibility.

Sorry to jump in on your thread OP with another question, but I'm getting confused reading about the 5-day park hopper plus military salute ticket. Does that get you 5 days in the theme parks with hopper plus another day that can be used at the water parks? It seems like some of what I read says you only get 5 days total and that would mean you would have to hit a theme park and water park in the same day. Anyway, I've managed to completely confuse myself on it. We've bought the regular hopper passes numerous times, but never the plus since we usually go in January, but we have a July trip in the works and thought we might check out a water park this time as well.

With WDW tickets, the number of "days" named on the ticket refers just to the Theme Parks.
The Water Parks entrance assets are extra and in addition to (and don't count against) the Theme Park days.

The way the Plus option works is you get as many entries to the plus options as you have ticket days to the main parks so a 5 day Plus ticket has 5 entries to the main parks and 5 Plus entitlements to water parks, mini golf or the 9 hole walking golf course

Just to completely clarify, with a 5-day Salute ticket you could easily have a 10-day trip by going to one theme park per day and one water park or golf per day. And the Salute tickets do NOT expire 14 days after use, but are good for the entire year, so you could save some of those park and/or plus options to make another trip in the same year.

That's great to know. Thanks to you both.

Does anyone know about the universal military ticket offer, specifically if it has to be used within 14 days of the first use? I can ask on the universal board but I was prompted by the above post about the Disney military salute tickets not expiring in 14 days. I was looking at the 4 day 2 park universal ticket but thinking of only using 1 day now and saving the other 3 for a trip later this year.
Any ideas?
