We (my family of 4) currently have a 1 Bd. at SSR booked for a week in Dec. We are considering having one of my SILs (and her family of 5) go with us and we'd take care of their lodging. It would be 4 adults and 5 kids ages 4 thru 9. In order for us to get accommodations for all of us we need to book either a THV, a 2 Bd. at AKV or 2~1Bd. at AKV. I'm leaning towards either the THV or the 2~1Bds. at AKV.

Since we own at SSR can we go ahead and book a THV and are they in the same category as a 2-Bd. as far as points go? Since we can't book at AKV for another couple of months what do you think would be the chances of getting either 2~1 Bds. or 1~2 Bd. for Dec.? And (I know this is personal preference) with the number of people involved would 2~1Bds. be better than 1~2Bd.? We've vacationed at WDW with this SIL before but we've stayed at different resorts before so I'm not sure how it will be to so close all the time. Hmmmm, think I just answered my own question... if we try booking at AKV we'll book 2~1Bds. :)

TIA

If you were thinking of THV for this December, you may be out of luck anyway. According the the reservations availability post on this site, most of the December dates for THV show no availability already.

Of course, there's always the waitlist, and not all of THV's have been declared into DVC inventory yet, so some availability may yet open up.

What's showing up on the availability list for resorts here is only what is reported by posters as their experience at the time that they called in to MS so availability can very well be different when you call and you should do so and not just rely upon what's posted. If you own at SSR jmho take advantage of your priority booking window for THV before 7 month window comes along and you're in competition with everyone.

Good luck to you :goodvibes

I like the THV idea if available. If not, we always consider that once the kids are asleep, do we want to have some time for the adults to sit around and talk with some drinks, play cards, etc. If so, the 2BR is much easier. We put our kids to sleep in the King and then move them to the pull out once we are ready to go to sleep.

It's a little more on top of each other especially when some "time-outs" or discipline are needed but the two bedrooms can divide and conquer. The two 1BR are great, but more points and then no time to spend with the other adults. (with some though that's a bonus :rotfl:)
