Ok--so we're in a THV in November and I had a few questions:

1. Are the bbq's up on the deck or downstairs?

2. I think I read somewhere that they are not gas and use regular charcoal briquets---true?

3. It has been YEARS since I have used a regular old fashioned bbq with briquets so if so, what's the best way to light them? newspaper under them? (my Dad used to use lighter fluid but I'm not a big fan of that)

4. Is there someplace to dispose of the ashes after the briquets have burned up?

5. Are there bbq tools in the THV?

6. Is there a platter in the THV?

Any other tips you can think of would be greatly appreciated!

We just got back from a 3 n ight stay in THV and we LOVED it!!! You are going to have a blast!

Here are the answers to your questions:

1. Are the bbq's up on the deck or downstairs? They are located at the bottom of the stairs.

2. I think I read somewhere that they are not gas and use regular charcoal briquets---true? Yes they use charcoal. You can buy the ones that don't require lighter fluid and get matches free at SSR.

3. It has been YEARS since I have used a regular old fashioned bbq with briquets so if so, what's the best way to light them? newspaper under them? (my Dad used to use lighter fluid but I'm not a big fan of that) Sorry, can't answer this one, my DH did the lighting!

4. Is there someplace to dispose of the ashes after the briquets have burned up? We left ours for the following morning to clean up but a CM had come and cleaned it out before we had the chance.

5. Are there bbq tools in the THV? yes, I did see some

6. Is there a platter in the THV? Didn't look, we only made smores

Any other tips you can think of would be greatly appreciated!

Again - be VERY excited! The treehouses are amazing and I am sad to be home. Have a great trip!

1. the are down on the ground, a few yards away from the villa

2. they require charcoal

3. get the matchlight charcoal, they are pre soaked and easy to light

4. I didn't see a specific place, but it looks like they clean them out after you check out, so I wouldn't sweat it.

5. yes

6. There is a decent size platter, but it not huge, more like an extra large oblong plate. You can also use the cookie sheet.

I would put your charcoal under the treehouse so it doesn't get wet. Same with strollers, etc. We were there with torrential down pours and it doesn't get under the villas, so no need to lug everything upstairs every day.
