I am looking at booking one night at an offsite hotel to get 2 days of early entry (will cost about $100). This is worth it to me. I'm wondering if I can take advantage of the early entry without even checking in but paying for the room remotely. Does anyone know??

I'm going to move this thread to the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board...it doesn't really belong on the Universal side.

But it's completely about Universal? Just as threads about Throwaway rooms are on the Disney Theme Park thread.

Hello- We are doing a surprise night at a universal hotel for our daughter's birthday at the end of our Disney trip. From what I have found out by calling the universal customer service, you do have to check in to get the early pass. Even though check in is not until like 4:00 p.m. you can go early the morning of check-in (I believe around 7:30 or 8:00 am)and complete the check in process. that way you can use the early entry for both days of your "1 night stay"

I think the confusion came from your original post, where you said you were looking at booking an offsite hotel. Were you wanting to book one of the onsite properties for the free Express Pass and early entry priviliges?

If this is the case, yes, you need to check in first. We did this in 2012. We arrived at the hotel at 7:15 am, "checked in" (though of course the room was not ready), then took the water taxi to the park for the 8 am opening for early entry. They texted us when the room was ready later in the day. Parking at the hotel was marginally cheaper than in the parking garage.

One night's accomodations was way less than two days of Express Pass for 3 people. :thumbsup2 Definitely worth doing in our case!

I think the OP is going to book a *package* with an off-Universal-site hotel; one of the ones that offers early entrance. If OP wasn't, they should know that early entrance with offsite involves a package, so it wouldn't just be $100.
