Throw away Campground Reservations

A number of us get together at Gulf State Park. Reservations there are also difficult to get. They have the following "No Show" policy.

Maybe we should strongly suggest to Disney/Fort management that something similar be implemented. Obvioulsy this would accompany revision of any on site associated perks.

Well by noon following they've already scored bennies on the checkin day and the checkout day (which is the noon following). Like early entry and LL at 7am for on-site guests. The OP stated they were looking at a 1-night site for the bennies on both days.

The devil is in the details of on-line check-in which reduces the CM work load at the Fort lobby/kiosk from dealing with a vast number of honest Fort guests who are taking possession of what ever campsite number Disney texts them (when it's ready). Riding the coat tails of the honest guests are the dishonest guests who say they will stay there but admit they aren't.

The one .... golden rose ..... in this scenario is WHEN the OP (and their supporters) plan to book the 1-night Fort campsite.

Becuz ... those of us on this board understand how easy it can be to book a 1-night stay at the Fort. Oh it can be done (and I've done it numerous times) but I appreciate the OP waiting until close to arrival to book his site. By that time, most/all of the FW guests (who actually intend to stay there) will have booked a site. Because there is ALWAYS turnover inside that last week before arrival (the 7-day room only cancellation window before arrival is a factor).

Actually, to be honest, his offer to wait to take up a site was .... generous. While the "throwaway" supporters are disingenuous, I have to admit the OP may actually be a decent person.

I do sympathize with campers. I’ll give them until the week before.
How generous of you.

I'll agree Ed. I think most of us and even the local folks book well in advance. Taking the single night that close to arrival day probably wouldn't impact us and Disney is getting that extra night's revenue.

I'm still going for soft, warm Snickerdoodles though. :)

I just don't understand why the OP posted at all if you didn't want feedback. Were you thinking you'd get high-fives for making it harder for campers to get reservations?
I guess to find out if they could lose their $120 trying to save $20 🤷‍♀️

lol. No. If you read my original post you’ll see i acknowledge the coming firestorm. So i wasn’t anticipating high fives.

As I’ve said, i am cognizant of and sensitive to the effects it could have on the die hard campground community. It gives me pause. Your replies have certainly deepened that hesitancy.

I don’t care at all about “cheating Disney” however. For reasons I’ve already described.

My question wasn’t one of the ethics of doing it but rather potential repercussions. I get a little paranoid about Disney discovering it and hitting us with a ban. That would seem extreme to me but who knows. So I was asking if anyone knew if a scenario like that.
