We have a reservation for this May in two studios at VGC. My husband and I are staying the 18-24, and my in-laws were joining us for the 19-22. They finally made their flight reservations yesterday, and they are now arriving late on the 18th. They were just going to get a cheap room on the 18th and move to VGC on the 19th. My husband and I discussed it last night, and we decided it was worth the points for them to be in their "real" room, settled, and ready to go bright and early for MM on the 19th. We called this morning hoping on the off chance for SOMETHING to be available. We spoke with a wonderful CM who found us a studio for that night!!! They now get to stay in the same room for the entire trip, and they don't have to get up super early to get checked in so that they can use MM with us. They will just be ready to go. I am so happy that at 2+ months out, there was a studio available. Of course, it is a Wednesday in May, so not an extremely busy time, but this DVC member is very happy. I can't wait to call the in-laws and tell them the good news!

I agree, so far I've had great success. We don't go during peak times so I think that helps. I booked a studio for Oct using my VGC points at 8mo and just booked an additional 2BR this morning at 7mo using my SSR points. Can't wait to share DVC with friends and attend a Halloween party for the first time. Being able to supplement with our non VGC points allows us to make better use of our limited VGC points.

I also was very excited that I was able to get five nights this summer! We decided not to go to DW this summer but instead go to Hawaii and then come home through CA! I know there isn't that many villas so I was pleasantly surprised to get five nights!

Your experience may have been aided by the recently announced opening dates for the new attractions. Star Tours 2 and Little Mermaid are now set to debut on June 2nd. Goofy's Sky School and the new Disneyland parade should also open in that vicinity, too.

I wouldn't be surprised if folks holding reservations for some May dates canceled and re-booked in order to arrive after those attractions are open.

I hadn't thought of that. Whatever the reason, I am just excited that we were able to add a day for them. :thumbsup2

I was surprised too. I have two reservations for September that I got at the 7 month mark and was very pleased.

Can't wait for my first & second trip to VGC. :cool1:

I was unable to find info on the new rides and the opening dates. My daughter is really excited for the little mermaid, is it really opening June of 2011? The only thing I saw said it was opening in 2012?

The DISNEYLAND version is opening on June 3, 2011.

The WALT DISNEY WORLD version's opening date is sometime in 2012.
