I used Thrifty on two trips. I used to rent on site, but I snagged a midsize for $160 from Thrifty for 8 days on two different occasions. In fact, last trip they ran out of midsize, so we got a van for that price.
I thought it would be a hassle to take the shuttle, but it's not. For the amount of time you can stand in an
Alamo line, you get there and get your car. Seriously - On both trips we walked outside of the airport and got the shuttle within minutes. On both trips there was no wait for the car, once we got to Thirfty.
Returning the car was also easy. Just jump right out. There are two different shuttles that return to the airport. There is an A and B terminal and they list the carriers right there on the signs.
I would not hesistate to rent again from Thrifty, since their prices are very competitive. My DH was a little put off by the fact that they tried to get us to pay for an upgrade to a van, when they didn't have the car we reserved. He thought they were a little cheesy with the "Wouldn't your wife rather have a bigger car while on vacation? I bet you're used to a bigger car" My DH just said, "No - Not my wife!" Their pitch didn't bother me at all - that's what they're supposed to do. They just didn't realize that I am one of the few moms with 2.3 kids who refuses to drive a van or SUV and
only knows how to drive a stick! I put myself through the window of an automatic everytime I forget there isn't a clutch and I hit the brake instead.
