Three Things...Gratitude Thread

With the clock change last night, many of us may gotten an extra hour of sleep (though it doesn't always seem to work that way :rotfl: ). At any rate, it inspires...

Today's Topic (Sun, 11/2) - 3 sleep-related things, or 3 items in your bedroom, that you're grateful for

Afternoon all,

1. Getting a good night's sleep - for years I've struggled with sleep, either finding it difficult to fall asleep or constantly waking up throughout the night. But this past year this appears to have stopped and I've been enjoying a lot of good sleep. I'm not sure why but I'm certainly grateful!

2. Cosy pyjamas - especially at this time of year, I adore fleecy, cosy pyjamas and keeping warm. Especially so as all of mine are Disney related and I love them all. While Primark isn't the best clothing store, their Disney pj range is always changing and always impressive.

3. Fleece/teddy style bedding - again as it's getting to the colder months, I live for my fleecy style bedding to keep me even warmer.

1. My soft and warm bed -- so many do not have a warm place to sleep;
2. My sound machine that helps minimize the tinnitus that I suffer with;
3. The soft breathing of my dear old dog that assures me she is OK.
My wife needs the TV on for three hours in her bedroom...she just can't shut her thinking process off... unless she is exhausted

November-

DD16 - Her birthday is this week.
Thanksgiving - Definitely my favorite holiday.
Charlie Brown Thanksgiving - One of my best friends and I take time to watch it numerous times each year and laugh hysterically about Snoopy fighting with that darn chair.

Bedroom/Sleep-

Sleep Machine App- Instead of a traditional noise machine, years ago, I invested in this app that has all kinds of noises that you can mix and match. It helps tremendously with my sleep.

A dark bedroom- Between good wooden blinds and dark blackout drapery, my room stays nice and dark...which helps me sleep. I can't even see lightning in thunderstorms.

Blanket- I need a big heavy blanket to sleep. I found a great on on Amazon a few years ago. Sure, it's king sized and it's just for me, but it helps me sleep.

November
Historically November and December are my months to go to Disney especially November so I can head up the food and wine festival so that is one thing I love about November is going to DISNEY DISNEY

Two holiday holidays Veterans Day and Thanksgiving so lots of time off work because I usually take a vacation around Veterans Day and then you offer Thanksgiving

And then back in the day black Friday shopping was one of my favorite things to do are used to love to go in the middle of the night stand out in the cold front of the stores to get good deals get a newspaper on Thanksgiving and plan out the attack of what stores we’re going to and what we’re gonna do it was great fun

Sleep / Bedroom
I’m happy if I get any sleep at all I’m on notoriously sleep issues since I was a little kid so I’m happy if I get sleep at all
I have a lot of pillows on my bed I have paid a lot of money for some pillows and I really appreciate those pillows since I had two neck surgeries they are extremely beneficial to me very thankful for my pillow pillows
I have a blanket issue I collect blankets I like big fluffy soft blankets there’s no shortage blankets at my house
Space heater I like keeping my room toasty warm before I go to bed I am not one of them people that crack a window when I go to bed you crack a window in my room I’m gonna crack you🤣❤️🤣 I like it nice and warm very grateful for space heaters

Kitchen
Cabinet space I have a lot of cabinet space and I absolutely love it first time ever I have a big kitchen with cabinet space❤️❤️

Counters I have a lot of counter space and I have an island so plenty of room to do things when you’re fixing dinner so absolutely positively amazingly nice so grateful

Pantry I actually have a pantry in my kitchen and it’s huge extremely grateful absolutely love my pantry

Happy First Week Of November

#1 - NO SLIDING DOOR - I’m so glad my house doesn’t have a sliding door. I had one in my old house and it was fine there, but in this house, I’m glad I don’t have one.

#2 - MEDIUM OAK CABINETS - This is no longer in style, but I don’t care. I like the warm tones in medium oak cabinets. I have no desire to update them to today’s style.

#3 - SKYLIGHT - I absolutely love having a skylight in my kitchen. It’s so nice having natural light come through the ceiling.

Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer - I love mine, I love the decorative bowl upgrade DH got for her, and we're about to hit that time of year where she gets a ton of use. They're not cheap but you can usually find them on sale and they are an absolute blessing if you have little ones or a multitude of things to do where you can't just be standing there holding a hand mixer. They're also good for more than just baking related needs. I have some attachments for mine and I've also used it to make things like whipped mashed potatoes, fluffy compound butters, and there was that one time I tried to make my own mayo.

Backsplash - Our last house had a boring one with large beige tiles to coordinate with the neutral tones of the open concept rooms. This house is older and had none, since it wasn't a thing when this was built and nobody put one in whenever the previous owners updated all of the counters to granite. Our granite has chunks of blue, which was what I'd always wanted. So, I got a bright blue tiled backsplash. It's probably a bit much for some people and I had to resort to pool tile, but I love it every time I see it.

Peninsula - The central counter and cabinet set up has a peninsula extending from the center of it that's table height with additional cabinet space. That section has been everything from the kiddie table for the girls, my cake decorating station, and where we put the huge roaster when we're making a turkey.

Happy Monday dear friends and may each of you have a blessed new week :)

God willing before the end of this year, sharing meals once again with God and my beloved Dad in our kitchen

Running water and clean water to drink
Food and other supplies

So many kind people work in the kitchen here.
