Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Tacos - I love them because they are quick easy meal everyone in my house actually likes! 🌮
Apple-picking - An activity I intend to do next week with my cousin and her kids. 🍁 🍎
Cats - I definitely second (third? - whatever we're on) this one! :cat:
Olive Oil - I feel better about cooking with this sometimes instead of butter. 👨‍🍳

Service Members - all our men and women and service animals who fight or have fought for us - true hero’s

Care Givers / a tireless thankless job that requires a lot of hard work nasty messy work dealing with families it could be fighting that are very upset and they have to take care of the family members some of these people get injured on the job they get treated really bad and they still come back and do their work and we need them so bad and they’re wonderful care

Doctors & Nurses - especially the ones that help treat children but not just children but especially children who are really sick it takes a special kind of bravery to come in every day and treat very sick children that takes a very heavy toll when you come in smiling every day to help these poor kids suffering or dealing with cancer or other traumatic events

Happy HUMP DAY Friends :wave:

#1 - MY DH - He was a volunteer fireman and EMT for several years. Even though he retired from that, he still keeps all his certifications active, and he has a lot of certifications - EMT, Officer, Instructor, Inspector and more.

#2 - SROs (SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS) - All police officers are special, but SROs are super special, at least the ones in our school system are. Several of these officers are my friends and they are just awesome humans beings!

#3 - PRIESTS, DEACONS, NUNS - These people are spiritual hero’s. Giving their lives to the service of the church which involves more than people realize. These people have been a hero to so many people and are always willing to take on more. People may argue and want to discuss bad things that have happened with priests and I remind them, there’s bad apples in every bucket of anything, but that doesn’t mean the whole bucket is bad. You get rid of the bad apples and you’re left with a good bucket.

Wednesday wave with a hug to all :)

Ministers and other educators and counselors including kids, who can be the best teacher.

Nurses last night who patiently tried so hard to get my roommate to calm and sleep.

God willing I will one day get back to a library. Librarians make such a positive difference to so many.

All of our military who stand ready to give their lives to protect me and my loved ones;
My two daughters who teach Special Needs and underprivileged children; and all educators who teach with little recognition for their hard work;
My husband of nearly 46 years, who has always put his family above himself and asked for nothing for himself.

Military personnel and their families for their sacrifices.
Public service employees in all sectors because working with and for the public can be very challenging sometimes.
My parents, who worked hard at crappy low paying jobs and did without to keep food on the table, a roof over heads, food on the table, and the utilities on for me and my siblings. To this day they have a hard time treating themselves.

Teachers - They are so crucial to growing the minds of our youth, yet they are so grossly underappreciated, undercompensated, and underfunded for resources.

Nurses and PAs - The MDs get so many accolades but it's usually the nurses and PAs that handle the heavy lifting when it comes to patient care.

Entertainers - Unlike my first two, many of these are paid handsomely. That being said, think about what it does for your mood and overall wellbeing to enjoy some entertainment. From movies and music to comedies and art, these creative and talented people provide a service to mankind that helps our minds recharge and enjoy.

Heroes
My first hero when I was in elementary school was Amelia Earhart. I read every biography I could find about her. In the same vein, all women who have trail blazed in areas previously available only to men are heroes to me.

Emergency responders, all those who speed towards danger instead of away from it! Whenever I see an ambulance, firetruck, or volunteer firefighter racing towards an emergency, especially at night, I can’t help but be grateful that they are giving up sitting on their couch watching TV. They have chosen to be on call.

In the early days of the pandemic, I was so grateful to all who went to work in spite of the risks. The essential personnel made life during that crazy time better for all of us.

Sorry for the late post today, folks! This somehow landed in another thread. :confused3

I’m grateful that I learned cursive writing and I’m also grateful that my kids learned it too I’m kind of sad that they don’t teach it anymore I really think they should just my opinion

I am grateful that I learned math I can do math in my head I can count back change I’m grateful that I know how to do that I tried to teach it to my kids it was an exercise and frustration repeatedly repeatedly repeatedly repeatedly you get my point they just couldn’t comprehend how to do it it made me really sad they couldn’t do math in their heads either You know you’re at the store and somethings 15% off I could not teach them how to do that and I’m just like well you better have somebody doing your finances for you or you’re going to be in trouble🤣🤣🤣

Evening all,

Just realised I didn’t actually post yesterday in the end but I will second everyone already recognised, especially emergency responders, police, NHS staff and the armed forces.

For today:

1. Reading & books - I will second/third this. I've always enjoyed reading since I was a kid and so grateful for my ability to read, enjoy books and just read well.

2. Computers & technology skills - considering how advanced society is becoming, I'm grateful for the IT and tech skills I've learnt over the years as it never stops being helpful. Downside is it means colleagues and family usually come to me for help 😂

3. Duolingo - bit of a random choice, but I've been learning a second language (German, as I did it at high school and did pretty well) on Duolingo for years and the app itself is really fun and easy to use. I doubt I'll ever be fluent and sometimes the subjects the app teaches are incredibly random, but it has helped me learn a lot.
