Three Things...Gratitude Thread

It's a struggle to name just 3 things 😂

Nutella - its a super moreish chocolate hazelnut spread, I'd eat it every day if I could.

Homemade triple chocolate brownies - have a recipe for these that are so rich and tasty.

Chocolate fondant - one of my favourite desserts, especially when served with ice cream 😋

Not a huge chocolate fan (I know, I know...) but I do enjoy a little, sometimes.

>Frozen chocolate covered bananas, rolled in peanuts, at Animal Kingdom.
>Stash's chocolate mint tea, which I think they aren't making anymore. Actually, mixed with mint is how I enjoy chocolate the most (thin mint cookies, for example). I love Turkey Hill mint chip ice cream, which doesn't have chocolate chips: it has flaked/shaved chocolate!
>Milk chocolate dipped pretzels. It's the salty-sweet thing that makes the chocolate tasty.

TGIF Friends :yay:

#1 - Our Grill - I’m always grateful for our grill and we use it year-round, even when it’s snowing.

#2 - Burgers On The Grill - I love burgers on the grill. In fact, we are having burgers on the grill tonight for dinner. DD21 will be home for the weekend and when I asked her what she would like to have for dinner, she requested burgers on the grill.

#3 - Block BBQs - at one time we used to do this quite a bit, but now that everyone’s kids are older and everyone’s running in different directions, we don’t do it as much. We definitely do it once a year and it’s always so much fun. I have great memories of our barbecue get-togethers in the past and I look forward to the ones in the future.

Love to bar b q !!!

Burgers - I love a barbecued burger I actually went out and got me a little grill just so I could do barbecue burgers

Chicken I am not a huge chicken fan but I love barbecue chicken

Corn on the cob - love roasting corn on the cob still in the husk on the grill it is delicious

All the fixings with the barbecue the potato salad the deviled eggs yummy

The Hoop Dee Do (sp?)! I have been probably 15 times if not more it is one of my favorite shows at Disney and shockingly they have really good food I love their cornbread so much that I asked for the recipe years ago and it’s the only cornbread I will eat ❤️

The Regionalism Jokes/Arguments - When you live in the south, this is kind of a loaded question. I grew up in an area where a barbecue was lighting up the grill and possibly having friends and family over for whatever you chose to cook. Down here, BBQ refers to specific foods (typically smoked meats). If you invite people over for BBQ, there are expectations of brisket, sausage, and maybe some pork butt or ribs. The gathering of people is looked at as a "cookout" and anything other than the range of traditional smoked meats gets diminished to the classification of "grilling." It's still kind of funny though to see people lose it when a newbie says they're BBQing and the fare involves burgers, hot dogs and maybe some chicken.

Sides - Everyone always wants to talk about the meat (which is key) but it's the sides that make it special...from really good potato salad, gooey mac & cheese, and casseroles to even sweet treats.

Food bringing people together - This kind of food is always really good at bringing people together which makes for great memories.

God's grace extra upon my dad and I that we are daily able to join together with Him for lunch even while I am still here in the rehab. God willing one day soon what additional joy it will be to dine at home.

Thinking of dinner many years ago with a small group of friends I was in a caregiver support group with. God made sure I knew my beloved late grandma was at His heavenly table while He was at ours through the sweet oldest lady in our group that I was close to.

Breakfast in general is my favorite meal time. Yes, at home for pancakes and hot chocolate. But everywhere due to my faith belief of God's amazing new day. I pray in however a small way to make a kind difference daily.

I will take Tigger trigger lead and share about one specific GRILLING that I am grateful for... summer of 1973...gas shortages... Nixon... Viet Nam

My Uncle was one of the first to commercially floating down the river of no return Idaho. So exhilarating was the experience that 23 years later he called his brother and wanted to share the river with brother and wife ....in a wood boat and not a rubber raft 😔 😔 😔

On the last bend before we left civilization put a hole in one of 2 boats ...so spent the entire day pulling the two boats up a doable soil incline and gear. For dinner that night we had t-bone 🥩 🥩 🥩 steak cooked over gathered mesquite wood.... I was 17 years old and doomed for 50 years looking for another PERFECT grilled steak

And why am I grateful... one more bend in the river we would have lost everything.... and perhaps our lives...so yes... I will pay the ransom of looking for that perfect grilled steak

1 - the good weather that prompts having a BBQ. Over here it has to be gloriously warm and sunny to have a BBQ, so I always equate barbecues with a beautiful day.

2 - the fact that having a BBQ seems to justify eating your own body weight in cooked meat and sides, which is so satisfying.

3 - burgers. You can't beat a properly grilled burger with some cheese melted on top.

I like the smell of BBQ wafting through the neighborhood when the weather gets nice. I don’t eat meat, except on very rare occasions, (sorry, no pun intended). But I like smoke/mesquite flavoring on other foods.
One BBQ memory: when my dad would BBQ, my job was to let him know when the charcoal briquettes were ready. (This was before everyone had gas grills) I can’t imagine what toxins I was inhaling!

Today's Topic (Sat, 5/17) - 3 things you're grateful for that are red or cherry-flavored

It's also:

so if that's your state, please feel free to substitute 3 things you're grateful for about Idaho!

Good Saturday Morning

#1 - Cherry Nutrigrain Bars - I’m eating one right now before I go to the gym.

#2 - My First Car - It was a red Ford Probe and I bought it myself. I loved that car so much!

#3 - Cherry Slushies - I love a Cherry Slushie with layers of Coke Slushie. One of my favorite summer treats.

I'm in the UK so I'll take the cherry/red option!

1. Black Forest Gateau - chocolate, cherries and Kirsch in a cake, one of my favourite desserts.

2. Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink lipstick in colour Dancer - I love wearing lipstick but hated how easily they come off. This particular lipstick is my favourite as it lasts for hours, even eating and drinking, doesnt smudge, and only needs touching up once in like 10 hours. This Dancer red is beautiful and looks fab, makes me feel so good wearing it!

3. Strawberries - my favourite fruit, love this time of year when the British strawberries are finally available. Could eat them every day.

BBQ things... and as a New England girl, BBQ means a cookout!
I love the way grilling meat smells. Even if we've just finished a large, satisfying meal, if a neighbor fires up their grill, my mouth waters.
S'mores!
Every year on the 4th of July, DH's family would have a big celebration weekend. He is one of 7 siblings, and usually at least 5 of the 7 would be there, kids in tow, as well as my MIL and her brother. There would be 20-30 of us for the weekend, and every meal was a cook out. We had an awesome time.

Red things...
Red fruits- raspberries, strawberries, cherries, watermelon
Shoes- I had a pair of drop-dead gorgeous red pumps at one time. They had a 2" heel, were leather, with a tiny red leather braid around the top opening. They were gorgeous, and I always felt gorgeous when I wore them.
Pillow- DD bought me a heart-shaped pillow for Valentine's Day when she was 8 or 9 (IIRC). It says "Forever Yours" and I know it wasn't designed to be a parent-child gift, but she picked it out to give to me. I still have it, still tuck it under my chin when I am reading in bed at night. The embroidery is faded and the fabric pilled, but I still use it... and she is still "mine," even after all these years. 💗 💗 💗
