Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Happy Tuesday

#1 - Ironing - I hate hate hate ironing! Have I expressed how much I hate it? But I am very grateful for nicely pressed clothes, because I also hate wearing clothes that are wrinkled.

#2 - This Election - I’m so tired of listening to the toxicness with this election, and I will be very grateful when it’s finally over.

#3 - The Price of Groceries - I get so frustrated after grocery shopping and seeing how little I got for the amount of money that I spent - it’s ridiculous! But, I’m extremely grateful that my husband and I both have good jobs and we are able to afford the groceries.
Amen sister!
Absolutely agree with all three with just a wee minor exception to #1 - I am able to wear my golf shirts for work so I can avoid that ironing job. :D

I don’t like the long drive that we have to make to bring our DGD back home to her mom’s, but I love the time I have in the backseat with her.

I don’t like all the stress of planning a WDW trip, but I am so grateful that we can (sort of) afford to go! ( I used to love to plan too, but this year, not so much)

There are many household tasks that I don’t like, but I am always grateful when my back and hip are not hurting me too much so that I can actually do them! (Not as well as I used to, but I do the best I can without hurting myself)

Today's Topic (Wed, 10/16) - 3 words (or phrases) you're always grateful to hear

P.S. - It's also :cat: National Cat Day, so if you happen to have cats you're grateful for, please feel free to post bonus pics!!
...

It’s HUMP DAY!

#1 - I Love You - Something I like to say and hear - it’s always nice to know you are loved ❤️

#2 - Good Morning - I like saying good morning more than hello, because it’s always a good morning because I woke up, my DH woke up and we’re blessed with another day.

#3 - Have A Magical Day - I love hearing a cast member say this to me. I wish I could say this to people around here, but people would think I was crazy - LOL!

Amen to your post dear Slo. It is a blessing to cherish to be able to say I love you to those we love and let all know we care. I love how you put your "Good Morning," description. Morning is my favorite time of day. To be able to share extra communion time with God and also my dad is a privilege. God willing next May, dad and I will be told to "Have a Nagical Day" at Disneyland.

Adding my own 3

Thank you are two small words that can mean so much.

I'm praying for you. By my faith I believe prayer is an act of kindness.

I'm happy to see you. Similar to Good Morning but at any time :)

All of the others are great, and probably higher on my list than these, but here are some others...

We're ready to upload. - I'm currently in my busiest busy season at work. Each member of my team is assigned states and territories that require these massive annual filings with a bunch of moving parts, analysis and processing. Whenever I receive this message from my boss, it means I've finished one of those states/territories, it's been reviewed and approved, and we're about to take the final steps to finish it off for the year.

Your results are negative. - I recently had to have DD15 tested for strep and it reminded me of how much I appreciate a negative test. Around this time last year, I was still rejoicing a negative result on secondary excision.

Your package is out for delivery. - It's rare that I shop in store. My schedule is pretty packed and let's be honest, there's greater options and availability by utilizing online retailers. It lacks that instant gratification you get from shopping in person, but there's always that fun anticipation when you know your new whatever will be arriving shortly...especially if it's a necessity or something that has you really excited.

Great job - it's always nice to receive positive reinforcement

Let us pray - I usually hear this at church or at my mom's for Sunday lunch

I can't believe it's almost 4:00 - one of the girls at works says this almost every day. We get off at 4, so it means the work day is almost over and time to go home!

So many that have already been said that I would also list, especially negative test results!, but I will try to be original. :)

“Your reservation is confirmed.” Especially when it comes to WDW trips

“I love you Gramma, you are my favorite”

“I always have time for you.” My sister-in-law and I have said this to each other many times, even when we are both busy. it means so much.

Holly in the Stephen King Bill Hodge series great character!!

Professor McGonagall - always on top of her duties but looking out for the kids

Professor Severus Snape - to play both sides and do it so very well !!! True unsung hero in the books !!!

Good Thursday Morning!

This is tough…… I love so many!

#1 - Edward Cullen (Twilight) - I’m definitely Team Edward forever and always! ❤️

#2 - Hagrid (Harry Potter) - He always makes me smile.

#3 - Scarlett O’Hara (Gone With the Wind) - A strong female character that shows us that just because you were raised rich, beautiful and catered to, doesn’t mean you can’t learn to be strong in order to survive in a very changing war filled time.

So many good books out there indeed. Huge thank you always dear PollyannaMom for all the kind care and time you give our lovely thread. Thank you also for encouraging and inviting us to share topic ideas, too.

I have children's books on my mind this early morning.

The Baby-sitters Club Series was a favorite of mine although I read the majority of the books as an adult. My very favorite character from Stoneybrook, where the BSC was set, was Claudia's, one of the sitter's grandmother Mimi. Mimi reminded me of both my beloved late grandparents. She quietly loved everyone and sincerely listened to those blessed to spend time with her.

Another book grandparent, I wish had been developed and included much more in stories was the Boxcar Children's grandfather James Alden. He so loved his grandkids and Watch the family dog. I always rooted for him to be healthy, happy, and know he was so loved.

pooh:our friend from the Hundred Acre Wood. Pooh's heart is always in the right place and he, too, loves his friends. I love that he also appreciates simple things and of course love that he spells honey, hunny. Endearing.

Severus Snape - I found the movies (well, they were on the third) before reading the books. I was always quite fond of Alan Rickman (as another actor/director once put it- He could recite the phone book and it would be riveting), so I immediately gravitated to the character. The books revealed an even more intriguing guy.

Lowly Worm - When I was young, I adored the Richard Scarry books. My favorite character was Lowly Worm. In 1995, McDonalds had a Happy Meal toy series with Richard Scarry characters. I had to have Lowly. In fact, Lowly and his little rolling apple car are sitting here on the desk in front of me.

Ramona - The Ramona books were quite popular in our circles. I think a lot of related to her and sort of found a friend in reading.

Adult:
Holly, already mentioned by WDWEPCOT. Best female character SKing has ever written, IMHO
I also liked Scarlett O’Hara, although my DH can’t stand her! (I wanted to name my someday daughter Katie Scarlett from the time I read the book when I was in 6th grade) Yes, she had many faults, but she was survivor.
Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov: the gentleman in A Gentleman from Moscow. You know that feeling when you finish a book and you really miss the characters? He stayed with me a long time.

Children’s/YA:
I love Melody from the Sharon Draper trilogy, Out of My Mind, Out of My Heart, and (waiting for me on my kindle) Out of My Dreams.
Charlie, from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (book) He is so unselfish and kind. Quite a contrast to the other characters!
Jo March from Little Women: She was my favorite of the March sisters. I read this book so many times!

Great topic! Thanks flyingdumbo!
