Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I love the soundtrack (and also have the CD) but I find the movie so sad, and these days I only watch it up to a certain point and stop . . . because I know how it ends.

Orange Bird - one of my favorite Disney Characters

Outdoors - a little nature can be very calming

Oasis - whether it’s an oasis of calm, cool air, or cold beverages, it’s a great place to be when you need it
I was thinking, as I wrote Out of Africa soundtrack, that it's a good thing I haven't seen it in years, or the music might make me cry.

And I love all your others!

Plus, so many of you mentioned the ocean. 😍 🌊

T - Travel- because I love being able to get away. It's freeing.
R - Respect- It's a 2-way street. You have to give it to get it, but it's really great to be respected.
A - Art- I love art...all kinds of art.
V - Victories- Not just the sports ones. It's often life's little ones that get you through the day.
E - Empathy- You can't always directly sympathize with a situation, but empathy makes us human.
L - Love- Think of the people I'd throttle for their drama if I didn't love them! 🤣

I didn't realize that about Ginger Beer. I stick with my tried and true Old Fashioned's.

What kinda of cocktails do you make barkeep?
All sorts of things....I find whenever I need a little "fizz" a splash really elevates most cocktails I make.
I think my favorite is:
Fig Vodka, pink or white cranberry juice, lime, and ginger beer

Funny SU mascot thoughts...whenever people joke about Otto, I tell them about the Saltine Warrior. The response is ALWAYS...so you went from a guy glorifying salted crackers to a big piece of citrus? Obviously, I know that's not the background of the "saltine" aspect, but it gets a good laugh. Personally, I think they should have stuck with Vita the Goat!
:offtopic:When we were at SU, you could still see the Saltine Warrior at the very top of one of the buildings on Marshall St.!

I know they moved him at least once while I was there. I grabbed a few pictures of him the last time I visited campus (2013). I shared them below. Two things gave me a good little chuckle in the article you shared...

1. It mentions the Lamda Chi Alpha brothers who served as the Saltine Warrior mascot. After the mascot was retired, the house maintained the costume. I had a number of friends in the house and one brother in particular...at least during my time there...was the one allowed to wear it at events/parties. If I went through my pics, I could probably find myself with him in costume.

2. Fran Becque, the woman who runs that site you shared, is a fellow alumni of my sorority and chapter. I believe she still serves as the national historian for our organization. Fran used to come and stay with us in the sorority house a couple of times a year while I was an active sister. It was usually when big things were going on with the chapter, but she'd peek her head in every now and then for other stuff. She has so much love for our organization and the history of these things as a whole. So, it just made me giggle a little when I saw it was Fran's site.
