Three Things...Gratitude Thread

70s:
1. Me and my sister being born - we're 6 years apart, but both in the 70s
2. Living in the country on a farm - so much fun as a kid living on a farm!
3. The big snows we used to get. I'm from central Illinois and we just don't get snow like we used to. I will say, as an adult, I really don't mind that we don't get the big snows lol, but as a kid I loved them!

My dad grew up on a farm outside of Bloomington. My best childhood memories are of visiting it and my grandparents. Playing in the corn cribs, riding bikes on the blacktop, the swinging bridge over the creek....oh wow it was great!!

I love @WDWEPCOT 's response about the bicentennial.

On a less lofty plane, my first thoughts were of the TV sitcoms in the 70s, such as:
  • The Mary Tyler Moore Show
  • The (original) Bob Newhart Show
  • The Partridge Family
And many other sitcoms, but those three were among my favorites.

I go to Bloomington 5-6 times a year. Our parent company is located there and we have quite a few meetings there (getting back to them now). It's such a nice area! We're about 2 hours southwest of there.

I agree! Such good memories. My sister was born in July of that year and I remember such great town celebrations going on. Everyone dressed up in old-fashioned clothing! It was so much fun!

From the 70’s . . .

ABBA - I have been a fan from the start, through when they were considered the complete opposite of cool, to the recent Voyage release and resurge of popularity. If I am feeling blue, all I have to do is listen to Dancing Queen and I’ll be smiling.

WDW - my happy place, bar none. I don’t know what I would do without it.

Cable tv - We got cable tv toward the end of the 70’s and it was amazing not to be tied to the three networks anymore. My dad didn’t like to spend money on frivolous things, but even he enjoyed having more options (although it was nothing like the viewing options we have now).

Wow cable in the 70s that would have been Amazing ! They didn’t start installing in my area until mid 80s and I didn’t get it until 90s when I finally lived somewhere that received it ! Honestly you would have thought I lived out in the sticks - I don’t but the reception is horrible for some reason 🤷‍♀️ still now 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I live in subdivisions - we have all the big stores - right outside of major city - you have to go for miles and miles to get to the country !

3 Things You're Grateful For From The 1970's
1. My brothers
2. Star Wars movies (I'll admit, I've only seen the movies once. But the music? *chef's kiss*)
3. I know I said the Apollo program for the 1960s, but the events that inspired my favorite movie of all time, and what I think its one of the greatest examples of heroics, perseverence, etc. happened in 1970, and that's Apollo 13.

SH

1. Shingles - well, not really. I have them right now, but grateful I caught them so early it's a mild case.

2. Shower - I love a stand alone shower. We have a big one plus the tankless water heater. So relaxing and never run out of hot water.

3. Shoes - I've never ever ever been a Crocs fan, but DD and I now have matching Minnie's to wear on our Nov/Dec trip!

Happy Thursday
Tomorrow morning is my ADR morning - I feel like it’s the day before the 1/2 marathons I did - nervous energy because I really want the 6:30pm time for the Hoop Dee Doo and I want the Roundup Rodeo BBQ. I’ll be sitting in front of my tablet at 4:45am tomorrow morning. Keep your fingers crossed for me 🤞🏻

#1 - I’m grateful for showers - especially on my workout days. Love a nice hot shower after a good workout.

#2 - I’m grateful for bags of lettuce shreds - I put them in my DH’s sandwich wraps that I make him every day.

#3 - I’m grateful for Sharpies - I use them all the time, especially in the kitchen when I write the date I opened something on that item.

Hope you get Roundup so you can tell us the real deal :) Although DD is not a TS fan and told me she does NOT want to eat there. Good luck!

Good Luck SLO!! If you can’t get them - sign up for one of those free services that find a dining ADR for you ! I’ve had great luck with them in the past ! My guess is you won’t need it as you will nail them right out of the gate !! Have that credit card handy ! Charge your phone !!! Start early sometimes they open early !!
