First off...
@slo There is absolutely no embarrassment or shame in getting tearful over a beautiful piece of music. That's how you know it's really good! It doesn't matter the genre or whether it's secular vs. religious. Great music is supposed to move you!
BLUE
IASW Spirit Jersey - When we were at DLR over the summer, day 1...while I was in the
Disneyland Hotel, I saw a women wearing this fabulous shirt. It wasn't available in the hotel shops and I couldn't find it in DTD on day 2. We had nearly 2 weeks of softball after that, and then we hit the parks. Park day 1...it was not at the shop by the attraction or any of the other stores I check. Park day 2...we were in DCA, so not going to find it there. Park day 3 - our final park day...it was not there in the morning, but when I checked back in the afternoon, they were fully stocked. It's a pale blue. I love it!
Blue's Clues - I think I was in college when this show came out, but it was so sweet and I adored Blue and her cute little noises.
The Blue One - If there is a blue option for pretty much anything, I usually want the blue one. Yesterday was one of the rare exceptions. I was buying a pair of new Brooks since the cushioning is shot on my current pair. The best blue option in women's was sold out in my size, the best blue option in men's would be a bit too wide for my foot (it's too bad because they were like Dory from Finding Nemo- but in a shoe!), so I went with orange.
SONGS
Man, this is tough. I can't do just three, but I won't drag this out for days. For what it's worth, I have a road trip playlist I built on Spotify that's the equivalent of nearly 9 days of music (when adding up the minutes)... and that's only more popular music from the last 6-7 decades. Things like show tunes, classical, American standard, holiday music, etc. are in their own little places. Even my holiday music playlist is nearly 26 hours of songs. I think categories may be my best approach since I have really eclectic tastes...
Classic Rock: Light My Fire - The Doors
American Standard/Jazzy: Luck Be A Lady - Frank Sinatra
Opera: Mein Herr Marquis - Die Fledermaus/Strauss
Choral: Ezekiel Saw the Wheel - William L. Dawson
Disco: Night Fever - The Bee Gees
80s: Duran Duran - Can't land on one right now but Vertigo has been it of late
90s Grunge: About a Girl (Live Unplugged Recording) - Nirvana
Angry Girl Rock: Only Happy When it Rains - Garbage
Alt Rock Older: Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
Alt Rock Newer: Back Against the Wall - Cage the Elephant
70s Yacht Rock: This varies but right now, it's So Into You - Atlanta Rhythm Section
Beatles Fave: I Am The Walrus
Early to Mid 60s: Tied between Dee Clark's Raindrops and The Drifters Up On the Roof
Mid to Later 60s: Tied between The Zombies' Time of the Season and 96 Tears by Question Mark and the Mysterians
1950s: Tied between The Diamonds' Little Darlin' and The Crew Cuts' Sh-Boom
Rap/Club/R&B newer: California Love - Tupac...although Shoop by Salt-N-Peppa also up there a lot lately
Older R&B that I feel stands on its own from other categories: Lately it's Stevie Wonder's Sir Duke
Broadway Single Song: Tomorrow- Annie (specifically the Andrea McArdle original cast recording)
Broadway Full Soundtrack: Chicago (prefer the original cast)
Holiday fun: Here Comes Santa Claus - The Ray Conniff Singers' rendition
Holiday classical: The Carol of the Bells (choral acapella)
Halloween: The Monster Mash - Bobby "Boris" Picket
Disney Movie: Feed the Birds - Mary Poppins
Disney Attraction: Grim Grinning Ghosts - The Haunted Mansion
Country: Probably my least favorite genre but Alabama's Dixieland Delight is probably the top
Folk: Some say these may cross into country or other genres but Joan Baez's The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down or John Denver's Country Roads (this fits several genres)
Ragtime: The Entertainer - Scott Joplin
Early 1900s: Anything Goes - Cole Porter
Elvis: Devil in Disguise or Viva Las Vegas
I'm going to stop because I could clearly keep finding categories and I'm already getting bothered that I am missing so many other favorites that are in fairly regular rotation. I always have music in my mind and when I find something I love or rediscover it after a break, it gets heavy play. Honestly, some of these songs above have been played 50+ times just over the last week. I guess I'm grateful that I have so many musical loves that I can easily move on to the next great song after playing the last one to death for a while.
