Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Think I’m finally seeing the light at the end of the sinus infection tunnel.
WDWEPCOT: adding your friend to my nightly list!

Stuffies/toys (going to just do recent ones for my DGD)
I love Magna-Tiles; open-ended and fun
She builds structures out of pillows, exercise mats, whatever’s handy and she creates scenarios with them. She pretends to be our kitten from years ago and we re-enact how we found him and adopted him. Today she lugged a big plastic container up the stairs and pretended it was Splash Mountain!
We haven’t done this in a while (hope she hasn’t outgrown it), but we loved playing water games together with her Disney figures and my DD’s old bath toys in the bathroom sink.

Sweets that I actually eat, even if it’s in very small amounts:
Dark chocolate
Honey
1 Werther’s hard caramel candy after dinner :)

Happy Saturday Friends

#1 - Helping My Mom Last Night - I’m grateful that we were available last night so we could go to her house and help her with a few things. Netflix kicked her off and she didn’t know how to get back on and her garage door opener wasn’t working. They were easy fixes for my husband and I to handle, but she had no idea what to do. It’s times like this that I am grateful that we never moved away from her - she lives about 3 miles away from us.

#2 - Driving My DD’s Teammates - when my daughter was playing travel ball, I was able to help out other parents by taking their daughters to practices and games. My boss was always very understanding about me having to take a day off or having to leave early due to softball. Because of this other parents that didn’t have understanding bosses relied on Me to help them with their daughters, which I was totally OK with - they were great girls and I enjoyed spending time with them

#3 - Donating To Our Church Food Pantry - every week when I go grocery shopping, I always buy 6 to 10 items to take to the food pantry. I have no idea who the people are that are being helped with my donations, and I don’t need to know - I’m just grateful that we can afford to buy groceries for the food pantry to help those who can’t afford groceries for themselves and their family

Thank you for donating to your church's food pantry, dear Slo. I try to do likewise during the year.

Dad does a ton extra right now for me so it means so much when I'm able to help save us money with digital coupons or cleaning his waist pack and contents after he has come home from shopping.

Through church and camps to have been so blessed by God to get to share faith with His precious young children and stickers, too.

Dad and I gave our cousins as part of an Anniversary gift money for them to choose how to donate. I prefer always to give anonymously. Not about me all for God. Dad and I also would never want to put anyone on a mailing list without their consent. Our cousins were touched and promised to pass it on.

I’m the person who’s always there for you no matter what time it is !! Take my friend who’s about to have surgery- I’ve been texting him daily inspirational messages trying to keep him in a positive mood- or jyst to let him know I’m thinking of him and everything will be ok !!! Or he’s not alone !!
I treat people the way I would want to be treated if I was going through the same thing !

I donate all items I no longer need to charity - unless the item is broke or beyond wearable / if there is a huge disaster I donate to help - especially if they are collecting for animals as they can’t go and get help !!

Sponsor a family for Christmas- program where you give some food items for their Christmas dinner - I gave tablecloth / napkins / set of Christmas dishes ( you know those cute ones at Target) 🎯 and everything for a nice dinner - my ex went to throw a fit I said are you kidding ? This isn’t costing you hardly a dime and you are blessed share with someone who isn’t or you will find yourself not blessed !!! he is currently experiencing not blessed 🤣🤣🤣 I just felt it would be nice to have a really nice Christmas dinner for this mom to give her family !! A tablecloth / napkins and cute plates aren’t that much to me but to someone struggling they are out of reach !!! Who doesn’t want a nice table for Christmas??

I work for a charity that helps Veterans / I appreciate people who are generous to donate no matter which Charity you pick !!! Thank You for supporting Charities they do a lot of hard work !!!

Today's Topic (Sat, 10/5) - 3 nice things you're grateful to have been able to do for someone

Donating books, puzzles etc. to a local nursing home. It's so lovely to take them over there and know that people who might feel cut off from the world are being thought of and given just a little something to boost their quality of life.

Small gestures like helping someone reach something in the supermarket, letting someone out in traffic, being patient and friendly with retail staff, even just saying thank you to someone --- basically, acknowledging and considering people I don't know. I like the idea of more of that, generally, between all of us in society.

Sending mail every now and then to a family friend after her husband died. You can't fix things for people, can you, but small gestures can really mean a lot when people are dealing with pain.

(Sat, 10/5) - 3 nice things you're grateful to have been able to do for someone

1. Last night I stayed with my mom who had a procedure done on her back - I just wanted to make sure she was ok through the night

2. Being kind to online chat agents - I cancelled our direct tv streaming service this week. We basically only have it to watch our baseball team play on bally sports and now that they are out of it, I wanted to cancel until next spring. It seemed like I could cancel online, but ultimately it sent me to a chat representative. She had to ask me about 5 different ways if I was sure I wanted to cancel - I just kept telling her that I did want to cancel please. At the end, she thanked me for being so patient and kind with her. I know she was just doing her job and it was a bit tedious on my end, but it would do no good to get angry with her!

3. Just complimenting people in general. I sometimes feel awkward doing it, but I'm trying to push out of my comfort zone because it is always a positive experience. Last time was this week, I complimented a co-worker on her relationship with her MIL. She is so kind to her and I told her I admired her relationship with her MIL and that I knew it probably took patience and kindness. She then complimented her MIL and said that she was also so good to her. I admire their relationship and am glad that I told her! I hope to someday have such a good relationship with my sons and daughter in laws if my kids get married!

When I was in HS and working as a cashier in the local supermarket, I learned how to stay friendly no matter what mood my customers were in. I think I could work for Disney! I try to do this everywhere, especially on the phone with people who I know are getting yelled at all day.

I send supportive texts to my friends and family.

I give my DGD permission to feel all of her emotions and try to help her find her way through them without feeling like my love for her is ever in question. I know this is easier to do as a grandma, but I take this part of my “job” very seriously. In 5 years she has gone through so many big changes in her life and is now going through another one (another move).

I was thinking the same thing! I was not in a great mood yesterday when I went out to pick up some cheese for tacos at the corner store. The checker was so nice and genuine that my attitude flipped a 180.

Giving two in-window A/C units to a co-worker of DD22. The gal's husband was going to be on bed rest after heart surgery during a hot stretch this summer. Money was tight since he was not able to work, Nice to know they all could rest comfortably.

Jobs - staying because you have bills to pay - but omg 😳 praying nonstop to get through the day !!

College - couple major life events set me back but I eventually finished

Getting those hard to obtain Disney ADRs working it nonstop up at the crack of chicken - stalking for a cancel - etc - doing whatever to obtain what you want !!!

Persistence/Perseverance:
I continue to enjoy watching my DGD’s persistence and perseverance when she is doing a project, building something, or learning something new.

My DH’s working through an injury and is working so hard at his PT. Being able to get back to playing music is a very strong motivator.

As WDEPCOT said, persistence in all things Disney related is something I am grateful for since, in the bigger picture, it usually leads to us having a great trip.
