Three Things...Gratitude Thread

God's grace to me of laughter and I pray keeping a faithful and upbeat outlook.

Children and puppies at play can inspire such joy, healing, and laughter.

God just placed in my heart some funny memories. First of a choir rehearsal long ago when a late friend helped warm us up with a funny song about a chick. Second of a claw machine at a restaurant that would not drop a teddy bear I had won thanks to God for my late friend Shirley. A manager or someone had to open the machine and lift the bear off. I was determined that bear was meant for Shirley.

Memories of fun with my beloved late Grandparents along with laughter past and God willing to come with my dear Dad.

Good Sunday Morning!

#1 - DD20 - Nobody, and I mean nobody, makes me laugh as much as she does. Shes been going through a lot of stresses lately and she’s close to kicking those stresses to the curb. I’m looking forward to laughing with her again, because these stresses have taken that away. About 2 1/2 more weeks until she’s home - I can hardly wait!

#2 - Jimmy Fallon - I find him soooo……funny! I don’t watch his show because I’m sleeping, but I do love his TikToks and other videos from his show. They literally make me LOL!

#3 - A Friend I coached with - We used to have the best laughs everywhere. I don’t see him as often, but when I do, we still have some great laughs. I miss our coaching days. He’s still coaching, and asked me if I’d like to help him, but I’m enjoying my life after travel ball.

(Sun, 4/28) - 3 funny things you're grateful for

1. Funny inside jokes between family and friends. Not to exclude others, but just when we're together, the things that only that group can relate to. They can make you laugh without even saying anything sometimes!

2. Sitcoms - thinking of older shows like Golden Girls, Everyone Loves Raymond, or newer ones like Big Bang Theory. I need to find a new sitcom to start watching!

3. Stand up comics - DH and I went to see John Crist not too long ago - so funny!

We have just one more episode to finish another go around of Big Bang. We like to finish off our TV viewing at night with a comedy and that one really fills the bill. We did Frasier once also and that was a great one to tack on to our evenings of crime/serious dramas or intense sporting events. :) (right now it’s playoff hockey)

1. Sometimes there will be something that strikes my DH and I as hilarious and we will laugh those long laughs that you cannot stop or breathe. They don’t happen often, but when they do, I treasure them. It truly feels therapeutic.

2. Funny late night hosts who help bring some balance to the news. I especially loved when Stephen Colbert did episodes from his home during the pandemic. Also like Seth Meyers and Jon Stewart.

3. Sitcoms and being able to access favorite scenes on YouTube. We recently watched the Mary Tyler Moore episode where she is at the funeral of Chuckles the Clown. The ski cabin scene in Frasier is another favorite. How wonderful that we have access to so much comedy!!

Inside jokes with family- We have so many, and in the right situation, we could be cracking up for minutes.

Dad jokes- I love a good dad joke. The cheesier, the better!

SNL when a performer breaks character and starts laughing- There was a recent Beavis and Butthead skit that reminded us of how hysterical it is when this happens. The skit already had me cracking up, to the point that I spit out my drink laughing at one point, but seeing the cast members lose it just pushed the humor factor.

Our dogs - they always make us laugh.

Me - I think I am funny. I will come up with off the wall funnies with the family. They will groan a bit but I say still get a chuckle. Then again, maybe I am not so funny :confused3

The older sitcoms - #1 Friends, Seinfeld, Frasier, Two and a half men

We love watching Blooper reels for that reason. Seinfeld had great ones.

The bluest skies are in Seattle (think Perry Como, and I am not that old, lol, my parents listened to him) but I also like the gray skies of Seattle like we had today.
Also Bobby Sherman in 1969!! Be still, my heart!

Funny things:
The Resident 7 Year Old. He says funny things, but he's also a single kids raised around 4 adults, so his intonation and usage can be really, really funny, stuff you don't anticipate from a kid his age.

TV shows like MASH, Big Bang, some sitcoms.

Bloopers- extracted scenes when actors bungle their lines, crack each other up, etc.

There are also some comedians I enjoy, like Rickey Gervais and Daniel Sloss. I know they can be pretty off-color and not PC, but man, can they be funny!

1. My DH—he makes me laugh all the time.
2. Parents in DD’s club sport—we travel together a lot and a few of us have been together for years—many shared laughs, inside jokes and general hilariousness.
3. Old sitcoms—we liked Friends, MASH, The Office, Cheers. Occasionally we just put a few episodes on.

Good Monday Morning!

#1 - My girls - The most beautiful blessings I ever laid my eyes on.

#2 - Topiaries at F&G Festival - They are just incredible

#3 - Garden Centers in the Spring - so many beautiful flowers everywhere. I can walk around and buy nothing - I love looking at flowers.

Mountains - When I was going through the worst of my cancer care, the Rockies were the image I kept in my mind to try and keep me focused and help me push through. I knew if I got through it, I'd be seeing the mountains that summer. Although...We really shouldn't have traveled with her team that year. DD15 wound up in a boot from a small fracture in her leg a few weeks out and wouldn't be playing, but we went anyway. I cried a little when I saw the mountains that summer.

A pretty hit - As I sit here nursing a wound over my eye (was too close to the C screen while throwing batting practice for DD15 yesterday), I'm reminded of one of my favorite softball moms and us yelling "It's a BEAUT!!!" when someone gets a pretty hit/bunt. It's all very Clark Griswold, but it even gave me a little chuckle yesterday as we were trying to clean me up. I may have been bloodied up, but the hit was a beaut!

My girls - It's really been hitting me a lot lately as I work on all of the different kinds of senior pics for DD17. All that's left for me to take are cap and gown pics and actual pics at graduation. I was hit with the same kind of emotions earlier this spring when DD15 had her first photoshoot with the school team and we did all of the "where it started/where we are now" collages.
