OK, first attempt at a Pre-Trip report. (and I am officially useless at all things computer so there'll be no pictures for now - can't work out how to :confused3)

The Ragtag Bunch of Merry (and not so merry) Wanderers comprises

Me. 41. Overexcited. Obsessive planner. (Oh yes, and I overuse brackets / parentheses)

DS. 10. Overexcited. (This is the year - he promises - that he will finally be brave enough to ride the Haunted Mansion. Yeah)

DD. 6. Soon to be 7. Happy event is occuring at the happiest place on earth. VERY overexcited. (But this is not the year she will be brave enough to tackle the Tower of Terror. Bah humbug)

DH. 41. The unenthusiastic one. (the only thing he wants to ride is the Rock 'n Roller Coaster and I think if I drag him onto the Carousel of Progress again this vacation he might just divorce me on the spot. Although he DOES have a fondness for waterparks.)

Soooo. Right now the overexcited part of our group are at Anticipation Level Orange. 10 days and counting before we leave.

(The not-so-excited one is at Anticipation Level Dark Grey - and its only that high because he is not yet aware of my numerous excel spreadsheets planning out our days.....)

Anyhows......

The Plan

(Reader Digest Concise Version)

July 26th. Leave PA
July 27th. Arrive Disney Vero Beach
July 28th & 29th. Pander to dh and plan to do NOTHING. Yeah right. Thats what HE thinks!!!!!
July 30th. Depart Vero Beach. Arrive OKW. :cool1:
July 31st - August 8th. Drag dh from park to park and ride to ride. Ignore any suggestion from him that we take a day off.
August 9th. Depart OKW for long journey home. :sad2:
August 10th. Arrive PA.

OK, thats enough for now. More to follow.

jane who has no fancy pants signature because she really can't get her head around how to do one. :confused3

I, as a side effect of being an obsessive planner, hate being late. Or just on time. I am an early person.

Sidenote. Not to be confused with a morning person. I am most certainly not an early riser. Left to my own devices will happily wallow in my pit until midday or later. (ahh for those happy days before children when this was possible). But I have a hatred of being late for anything. And will, on the days when I go to work, plan to arrive at 8 rather than 9 (just in case), and then catch an earlier train than required (just in case) and end up arriving at 7.30.

DH, on the other hand, is a fly-by-the-seat-of-his-pants, running for the plane / train kind of a guy.

This year we are taking the Auto Train down to FL. According to Mapquest it is a 3 hour drive. According to Amtrak we can check in between 11am and 2pm. To my mind that means 11am. To his, 2pm. I want to leave at 6am JUST IN CASE. Suffice to say he doesn't.

For the 3 years previous we have driven down. (and never ONCE left at the time we had planned to, thus always encountering congestion around Philly and DC). This year we are trying the train to make the journey less stressful. Hmmmm.

I am seriously thinking of turning ALL the clocks in the house forward by a couple of hours the night before. At least that way we MIGHT be in the car at a reasonable hour.

Too mean?

jane with still no signature. one day......

Wow, can't believe it is ALMOST TIME TO GO. Leaving in 3 days :cool1:

And SOOOO much to do before we leave. (I may be over-excited but I still haven't even started packing. But I have made a list. Hey, it's a start)

So, just in case anyone out there is interested, here is my almost finalised plan for our time at OKW.

July 30th. Arrive OKW. Dinner at Boma. Relax (!). Early to bed.......because.....

July 31st. Up early. Super early. Earlier than is decent. Its dd's 7th birthday. (YAY!). CRT for breakfast. MK is a red no go type park this day. But we are brave. We are fearless. We want to ride Splash Mountain. (and eat with the princesses). And, to further compound our errors, we plan to be in Epcot in the evening (another red no go park this day). DD wants to eat with the fishes, so Coral Reef it is. And having filled our bellies my little horrors will be the ones running to Mission Space chanting "spining, spining....".

August 1st. Animal Kingdom today. Tusker House booked for a late late breakfast. Due to a distinct lack of thought on my part will not be attending the MK EMH tonight (I KNOW the touring plans say not to, but I love being at the park in the wee small hours) as......

August 2nd. I am escaping my family and off on the KTTK tour. Yes another early early start. Kiddies are HOPING that OKW will be offering the kids fishing trip on Saturday again this year. DS went last year and LOVED it. DD is determined to go this year. Tonight have a babysitter booked and dh and I are off for some fun (must add alka seltzer to the "to pack" list)

August 3rd. DHS today. Would love to be there for RD but..... So have Mama Melrose booked at 3.15 (!?!?!?!) for dinner (!?!?!?!?!). Was slim pickings when I finally decided to book the Fantasmic package. So is either get there early, do everything, eat, go back to OKW, return for Fantasmic OR get there late, eat, do most things, see Fantasmic. And then, because we never learn, we plan to shoot over to MK for evening EMH (yeah!)

August 4th. Epcot. Tappan Edo booked for lunch. Friend and her family fly in this afternoon. Go and meet them. Drag them kicking and screaming to a theme park (she is one of those relax-on-vacation people.....no no no)

August 5th. DHS again. And this time we plan to be there EARLY. I NEED to ride TSM. NEED. Lunch at Sci Fi Dine In. Back to OKW early as babysitter booked again.

August 6th. MK. Dinner at Kona. (OK, am amazed by this, just booked this one TODAY - July 23rd - for a party of 8 - was waiting for reservations CM to start laughing hysterically at the mere suggestion but instead she said she can get us in, actually had 2 times to pick from, all at the one table)

August 7th. AK. Dinner at Whispering Canyon. (Another booking made today for a party of 8)

August 8th. Epcot. No meals planned yet. Maybe MK EMH in the evening.

August 9th. :sad2: time to go home.

Still need to figure out 2 more ts meals. Would love to try Toyko Dining but dh is vetoing this one. Hmmmmm.
