How sad
... I love this show ... it totally won't be the same without the Hillstrands or Capt. Sig
... it was difficult enough thinking about a new season without Capt. Phil, but now, without all of them?!
... I wonder if the show will even continue anymore? ... Discovery Channel, what are you thinking?!

With a major lawsuit pending, it's not surprising that three stars of Discovery Channel's 'Deadliest Catch' have announced they are leaving the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Capts. Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand, who are both being sued by the network, and colleague Capt. Sig Hansen said they will not continue on the series about crab fishermen in Alaska.
"We have been through a lot over the past year and unfortunately given the current situation with Discovery we are unable to continue participating in 'Deadliest Catch,'" the three men said in a statement. "It has been a fantastic ride, and we wish the best to all of the amazing and supportive 'Catch' fans we have met over the years."
Discovery Channel is suing the Hillstrands for $3 million for allegedly not completing work on a spinoff show they agreed to film. The network argued that the Hillstrands completed two weeks of principal photography for a show about their lives in Alaska, then refused to sit for interviews necessary to complete the project.
A lawyer for the brothers said in a statement, "Three million dollars is exponentially greater than any compensation ever paid to the 'Deadliest Catch' captains, and yet this is the figure Discovery is trying to extort from these men." He said the Hillstrands will likely have to declare bankruptcy, fire their crews and sell their boats to pay for the lawsuit.
