Three day cruise veterans: Are they worth it?

Just looking for your honest opinions - is it worth it to go for three days? Thanks in advance...

Well, ANY cruise is better than NO cruise! Seriously, though, we have done two three-nights and loved them tremendously, although I must admit that these have been our only cruises ever, so we have nothing to compare them with. With time so short, we made a point of being among the first to board the ship on Thursday and the last to leave on Sunday, to maximize our fun. Thursday really felt like a pretty full day of cruising, since we had time to eat lunch, and do swimming and hot tub before lifeboat drill. Of course, now we're booked for a seven-night, and so we'll be spoiled for life!

YES. Any time on the ship is worth it. But then you'll want to up that to the 7-day.

Yes - A three night cruise is a good starter cruise that got me hooked on cruising.

No - Too short. I cannot imagine cruising for less than 7 nights again.

The first time we cruised (a group of 9 people), we opted for the three day cruise on purpose, we didn't know if we would like it, who would get sick, and if it was really they way we wanted to spend our vacation--

Well, we loved it!!!, the only problem was it was to short, you just got to know your way around the ship and you were getting off. We are now booked for the 4 day, and will spend 2 days in WDW. July can't come quick enough!!!!

Depends, is it too short, yes, is this your only vacation for the year or is it your 10th!! We did our first 3 day DCL cruise in August, came home and said it was great, but wouldn't do it again because it was too short. A couple weeks ago, I realized we were do to come home from WDW on a Thrusday of Presidents week, decided what the heck, we could squeeze in another 3 day and the cost to change our air would only be $100.00 so we did it! But as DCL "veterans" we now know what to do and what not to do. We drove our selves nuts trying to keep the kids happy in all the programs, we felt they may miss something, but this time, we arn't going to go compando.!!

One thing, if you are just flying in for a 3 day or even a 4 day, do not fly in the morning of, fly the night before, we were so tired we only flew from Hartford to Orlando, the morning of the cruise, we were at the airport by 9:00am and to the port by 10:30! But we were so exhausted, we missed the Hercules show, slept right through it, made it to dinner and then back to bed! So do yourself a favor stay the night before, the easist is paying the extra bucks and stay at the Hyatt right at the airport, then do DCL transfers in the AM, but there are several other options.

We have sailed on all the itineraries and love the 7 day, but could only fit a 3 day in this January....it was better than nothing and we really enjoyed the family time together, but I do prefer the 7 day!!! The longer the better!!!

Ive done 2, 3 days Disney cruises now and I would say they are absolutely worth it. 3 days on the ship are better than 3 days at home. Of course a 7 day is better but if you cant fit that into your schedule or your budget then there is nothing wrong with a 3 day.

It seems as soon as you unpack, it's time to repack. BUT any cruise is better than no cruise. I really prefer to do at least 7 nights, but if I had the opportunity to jump on a 3 day for a quick trip to Castaway Cay I'd take it in a heartbeat!

We just did the 3 day and it was our first cruise. I would say that if it's the only one you can go on...then go for it, but if I had it to do over again I would definitely do the 4 day! I just felt for a first timer that it was a lot to take in and overhwelming at times...a day at sea would have been wonderful. Don't get me wrong though, I don't regret taking the 3 day because we did have a wonderful time and the weather was very nice!

We have taken a three day (DH & I on the Big Red Boat) three day (Disney), four day (Disney), and will be taking another three day (Disney) in June and they have all been wonderful. We usually spend the following week after the cruise in Florida checking out the parks, etc. It has worked very well for my family (me, DH, DD10).

Would this be your first cruise ever? I agree with the poster who said they chose three-day the first time because they weren't sure if they would like it. That's what we did. None of us had ever been on a cruise, so we thought we could tough it out for three days if we hated it or got seasick. Now we know - we love it!

This will be our first cruise with the kids... We would like to do a four day but the timing is off...

I was just worried that a three day would be too rushed.

We just did the 3 day on the 1/13 sailing. Honestly, if you have been on the 7 day then the 3 day is a bit of a let down. Don't get me wrong we had a good time, everything was fine --but we just felt way too rushed and didn't get enough time to truly relax or enjoy everything that the ship has to offer.

Yes! In my opinion it is.

Most of our 41 Disney cruises have been 3-days, mainly to maximize our vacation time. Yes, it goes by way too quickly, but yes, it is indeed worth it. We just pretend that Nassau is a sea day to maximize our time on the ship.

We did a 3 day back in May, after 4 days at the park. It was wonderful. It was nice to relax after the rushing at the parks, but it did seems short. We only did 3 days because we weren't sure if our youngest(6) would like cruising. He loved it!!! We have a 4 day cruise planned for June, and a 7 day for July of 2006.
I agree, 3 days is better then no days.
