Any chance they take reservations? How early do they open? Is there any time of day (in late August) when we might be able to get a table? We have just two days to visit, and are planning on going very early the second morning (we are staying onsite) but we could also go the evening before and try to take advantage of crowds lightening in the evening.

Three Broomsticks is a counter service restaurant so no reservations are taken...except for the breakfast that has to purchased through a package. If you want to eat there, going at an off peak time is best but keep in mind the overall crowds for WWoHP. If it's too busy when you want to eat, you may not be able to get into WWoHP at all. I would think waiting until evening would be better.

We were there a few weeks ago. On the first day there they had no availability for bfast because of the people with reservations. However the other 2 mornings we were told we could walk right in and have breakfast, or wait till 10 when lunch is started.

10 didn't seem too early for lunch when you consider we were at the park at 630 for early entry

We ate breakfast at 3B without any wait. We went in around 10 during spring break. We ate dinner there too. I never found it to be that crowded. Of course I wasn't looking during prime eating hours.

I think if you try doing lunch early - 11 am - you will likely get in immediately, or with a short wait. By noon - there will probably be a long line.

I was really glad I ate there - to say I did! It was cool (temperature wise) and while not a super quiet restaurant - it felt like a nice retreat from the mob outside. They seat you after you get your food from the counter - so you don't have people standing around stalking for a empty table.

Do they give a AAA discount there or is the discount only good at table service places?

So, you can eat breakfast here WITHOUT needing a reservation? We are staying at RPR for seven nights but not with the HP package since we are APH. I figured the only way to eat here for breakfast was to be on this package! If you can't, can we still make a reservation at the front desk when we check in or is this strictly for the HP package? Also, what do they have for breakfast?

During spring break, we ate at the 3 broomsticks four times in less than 48 hours. We didn't have reservations for breakfast and walked right in at 8:00am. We had lunch one day at noon, we stood in line about 15 minutes and had dinner both evenings, longest wait being about 20 minutes. (Both dinners were at 5:30.)

Well I am glad to hear that we can have breakfast without a reservation. We tried the 3 Broomsticks last trip for dinner and did not like it at all. So, hopefully breakfast will be better. What time do they stop serving breakfast?

You can't always. We haven't been able to. It is one of those things where it all depends on the reservations.

Someone said in a previous post the lunch begins at 10.

For those of you who have dined at Three Broomsticks, did you ever see any solo eaters sat at a table? I am visiting IOA solo at the end of the month, and I want to eat at Three Broomsticks but probably won't bother trying if I feel too uncomfortable.

Go and enjoy! It's your vacation too. Who cares if you are dining alone. Sometimes touring the parks alone is a blast because you get to do exactly what you want to do! :wizard:

Usually when I go to the parks I eat alone so don't worry about it...I don't.

We used our AAA there. :thumbsup2

We were there Christmas week and didn't have any trouble getting into the restaurant at all. We just ate at offpeak hours.

My daughter actually prefers to tour on her own! She likes to ride over and over and that way she doesn't have to worry about what anybody else wants. She left her husband in bed and had a great few hours on her own on our last trip. :thumbsup2

Please do a report when you get back.... :goodvibes

I'm considering a solo trip next winter and would love to know how you made out... likes, dislikes, suggestions....

Thanks!! E

We went in Sept of last year and ate around 11AM. We placed our order and were sat down within 10-15 min of entering the building if IIRC. It got fairly crowded as we were leaving though. Lots of people standing around outside. When we went back later in the day (hour or 2 before closing) the area was still super crowded. I feel on the nights the parks close early the area doesnt really calm down much.

Breakfast at The Three Broomsticks wasn't that bad. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it definitely wasn't the worst. We all opted for the American Breakfast which included scrambled eggs, a butter croissant, breakfast potatoes, link sausage and bacon (plus your choice of coffee, tea, hot cocoa, milk, juice, etc.). The coffee wasn't too bad, either, and that to me is the most important part of breakfast! ;) The other breakfast choices are The Traditional English Breakfast, The Porridge Breakfast, The Continental Breakfast, The Smoked Salmon Breakfast and The Pancake Breakfast.

We were all so busily and excitedly discussing Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey that the food was almost an afterthought. :)

I went there twice, by myself. The first time was on May 1st when the park was open till 9 and I went for dinner around 8. When I walked in there was a host who pointed me to the counter and once I got my food there were enough empty seats that I was able to pick my own table. I wasn't the only person there alone and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all.

The other time was during the day for a butterbeer and dessert. The dessert wasn't that great, but I do like the butter beer and was happy that I could get the souvenior mug at 3B.

Universal is a great place to be by yourself. They have single rider lines on most rides (I had bought the express pass not realizing that, something I wouldn't do again since the single lines were just as fast). Some rides I went through on the regular line to see all they've done, and then later did the singles line.

I ate at Mythos by myself too, had skipped breakfast so went when they opened. Don't pass that place up just because you're by yourself. Both places are good, Mythos is better though.

I did! I was in Orlando for a work conference and visited IOA solo. I had no problem at all and felt just fine. I was seated at a two-top and enjoyed myself immensely! ;)

So judging by previous posts, the TM asks you how many in your party?

I would be happy to eat alone, but only if there were tables available that sat just 2 people. I wouldn't want to sit on a big communal table (seats 4+) where other families will sit down with me, leaving me looking a little stupid.

Is it OK to request a table like that? How would the TM even know?
