Now im not provoking anything but there is a thread on the main community board basically arguing and calling the British cowards about the hostage situation, now stuff like this i normally ignore because i just think everyone has their own opinions whether i think them right or wrong...in this case i just think it is plain rude! Sorry i had to vent because it makes me cross!

I tried really hard to sit on my hands but I couldn't not say anything :sad2:

The moderator's on the US boards are obviously not as pro-active as they are on here.

I am not even going to look at it, as there are people on the boards who are just posting to start an argument

We know that our servicemen and women are brave - and at the end of the day, that is all that matters

The best thing to do is to ignore it, as it really isn't worth raising your blood pressure and getting involved in - just take a deep breath and have a nice 'Good Friday' :thumbsup2

Mandy :)

Guys if you are not happy with things that are posted on any of the board's here on the DIS please, please, please use the report a post feature (The red warning triangle) instead of just contributing to the thread and saying it should be closed.

Some of the other board's move a lot faster that the UK Boards and remember all the moderators are volunteers and are not able to read every thread or post.

You can help us by using this feature which will advise all of the moderator's on that board of the problem.

Thanks for your help :)

The board is so big that they often get lots of people shouting and arguing. It tends to get shut down a couple of minutes later.. :thumbsup2

It's strange, all we get over here are weirdos trying to sell stuff!! :lmao:

I know and the prices were in dollars and not good deals anyway!:rotfl:

Has this thread now been taken off?????????????????????????

Its still running ..but its now down on page 3 so hopefully as there all in bed at this time, it will slip further, but if it starts again getting popular it needs to be reported.

i was going to bump this thread. it beggars belief that people actually think this way. my DH has done this and my DHs dog has done that. unless you have had a rifle stuck in your face you should shut the hell up. I know its bloody scary:scared1:

better to have fought and ran away to fight another day.

God i'm mad, bloody SPAMS (all squaddies will know this one):rotfl2:

sorry had to get this off my chest, thanx for listening

H:)

Well i've voiced my opinion in the thread (several times) and its a bat and ball game at the moment so i've quit arguing with them.

My son is in Iraq at the moment. I have just read "the thread" and am disguted at the arragance and ignorance of some of the people who have posted on there. I did not say anything becouse I did't want it brought back up again but it does make we think we should choose our allies more carfully.

Sometimes it is really hard not to say anything but to be honest there are people who start threads like that just to get a reaction! Although some really may be that insensitive!

I have a friend who's brother was killed in Iraq and i saw first hand how devestated she was - not to mention his parents, wife and children. Its pretty insensitive to start a thread like that - unless you have actually been in that situation you have no right to critcise how others deal with it.

I have looked here and there to see if there were any threads on the Iran situation and if there were any, I have missed them -sorry.

I had wanted to write in to voice my support to all of you during that horrid situation and of course I am glad it is finally over.

However, what these incredible servicemen and woman went through was what I imagine to be as close to hell as anything (being blindfolded and lined up and hearing rifles going off within close earshot) and it is probably not over for them yet - at least psychologically - even though you Brits are amazingly resilient :)

However, I've always admired the British military - as well as the British people in general. They are anything but cowards - quite the opposite really and whenever I have listened to interviews with the British military, I'm always so impressed with their total resolve and determination - in a very matter-of-factly way - with a "stare" I would not like to come against - LOL.

Example: After the bombing in London, the interview with your average Londoner after being asked "How will you go on?" sounded like this - " Well, yes, indeed, this is a difficult situation, but we lived through WWII bombings and we'll just continue on." These are not the words of a cowardly people!!!!

Well, this is getting to be way too long, and I'm just venting - but I just want you all to know how much I respect you and cannot think of one other country whose side I would like to be on as much as the UK. We make a lot of jokes in chat and we all have a great time ribbing each other about our differences, but when you come right to it, the UK/USA friendship should be a friendship valued beyond belief.

I didn't even read the other thread -- it's all rubbish I'm sure! Please just consider the source and ignore it! Comments like that don't even deserve any acknowledgment.

I hope this sounds somewhat intellegent as the Masters is on and I'm trying my best to make sense typing here but my DH is non-stop talking (it's more like babblling really) in my ear about the various players and their families (yes, I do care soooo much ;)). And to make matters worse, his monlogue is in a very poor British accent - LOL!!!!

Hope you all have a great week!

Aloha,
Lorraine
