I'M BAAACCKKKK!!!!!

Had an absolute ball. I will fill you guys all in and I have some pics too. I'm too pooped right now though. I have been home less than an hour ha ha.

Congrats Lightech!!!!!!! I see we not only have a new baby, but a new TK'r too!!! Welcome BKMETV!!!!!!!!!

Soooo depressing being back!!! :sad2: But at least I have my TK friends to pass the time until the next trip. I can say this, the cabins are nice, but I don't see me staying at the fort again. It is great for what it is but it just didn't feel "Disney"

I think I'm the only one around right now...so welcome back. :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to hearing all about your trip and what the cabins are like. I looked into them a bit when we starting planning our trip way back in Jan. but could seem to find any feedback from people that had actually stayed there.

Ha ha. Honestly...and this is Disboard blasphemy ha ha... but I wasn't crazy about Fort Wilderness. The cabins were awesome and mouskeeping is spectacular, but the resort itself is too hard to get around (you either have to bus throughout the resort or rent a golf cart...not allowed to drive anywhere except out ha ha) I could have rented a car for what the golf carts cost. :scared1: Not to mention, there is no counter service, the pool is worse than an All Star even though you are paying deluxe prices and it is not "Disney" feeling...Don't get me wrong, we had a great trip, I just would never stay there again. ;)

ETA: NOT that there is anything wrong with an All Star Resort. They are actually what I prefer.

I'm glad I decided against the cabins. DH wanted to be close to the parks so we settled on a AKL/Poly split.

I've really lucked out this evening...hubbie just announced he's taking the kids for a quick trip to visit his mother (she lives 30 miles south of us) I figure that gives me at least 2 hours of peace & quiet :lovestruc

Hey :wave2: guys
We have company (Family of friends) coming in from Lafayette and Lake Charles stopping on their way to San Antonio-or waiting it out here then moving on.

We are still not out of trouble-a Cat4 can steer out of the current so we are waiting. We have the shutters down on the 2nd floor but are waiting to put them on the first.

Sorry not to add to the conversation I haven't caught up-just wanting to check in and say we are ok and are taking in those from Louisianna and E Texas and hoping that Gustav stays on track.

More later.

Holly

Thanks for the update Bopsmom...I just watched the national news and though they're focused on New Orleans at the moment, you aren't that far away! Just stay safe...

Yeah Pepper's back! Can't wait to hear all about your trip. I saw pictures of the cabins at FW and they are so pretty, but I understand what you mean about the "Disney" feeling. I didn't know you couldn't drive around either. And are they really priced as deluxe? I guess I know what your vote for fantasy Disney trip ISN"T going to be! (You'll understand when you go back and read a bit.

Brother and family had a little visit. The twins are going back to college today to avoid the Labor Day traffic tomorrow. They seem to be adjusting slowly, but they will soon enough. Little niece and nephew go back to school on Thursday, and SIL is excited for them to go too! All over the country Mom's are eagerly awaiting the start of school! :cool1:

Hugs whgrn!

And BKMETV....I'll be sure to tell your DH about our birthday rules: all day you're a Princess, you get what you want, calories don't exist, and whatever you say is true and right!

 to you too, MK!

And can you please tell my kids those rules??? October 19 is coming up before we know it, and I do NOT want a repeat of last year's birthday disaster!

Sure! I'll tell anyone the birthday rules. I mean, come on, you get one day out of the year to be spoiled, to be a princess, to get what you want, and to eat it too! Is that really too much to ask? Even with anniversaries, you have to share it with someone, a birthday is all your own and should be celebrated as such!

Also for us Sagittarians, we really only get to celebrate during the holidays, we have to milk it for all its worth! I hated waiting until December to get presents...it was the only time of the year for me!

BKMETV...I have to ask...are you anywhere near Hamilton? My cousin moved there last year...

Hi everyone!!!! Took the kids to "see" the Jonas Brothers last night. DDs 5 & 7 were shocked. We didn't tell them until we got there. It was a nice night for them. I spent my whole day trying to finalize my park plans. I just don't have enough days in Disney to do all that I want. Everytime I get a pretty good schedule, I find something else that we will want to do. I was going to plan a night at Epcot just for DH and I. But I might have to cut that out. I decided I want to take the kids to Epcot to see all the Santas in World Showcase and I can only work that into our plans on the night we were going to go out. Oh well, I'll find room in our schedule to do something with DH.

Shmu-HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! and congratulations on 1000 posts!!!!!

MagiKitty-Love those birthday rules. My birthday is Sept and I'm going to leave DH a note with those rules on it. And if he has the nerve to questions it, I'll just tell him to take it up with you. :rotfl:

Bopsmom-Thank you for updating us. I've been watching the hurricane and you, your family and everyone down that way are in my prayers.

Yo pepper!!!! Welcome Back!!!! I thought about staying in the cabins too. It just seemed like a good idea since there are so many of us. But I just wasn't too thrilled with the rustic part of it. And the transportation always put me off. Seemed like it would take a loooonnnggg time to get anywhere. Glad you had a great trip and I can't wait to see some pictures.

aleciajab-I set up the Richard Petty Drive Along for my DH for this vacation. He really wanted to drive the cars but that just isn't in our budget. The price for it is 116.09 but if you get the mousesavers email newsletter, there is a link to buy discounted tickets. If you don't get it, let me know and I'll pm it to you.

BKMETV-my kids have been is school since last week. I only have my DD5 home with me now. I'm glad they are in school but sometimes it is just too quiet. And since DD5 can't spend her time fighting with her sisters, she has to spend her time bugging me. :rotfl:

OK I have to ask...what was last year's disaster?

Oh, it was AWFUL!!:scared1: LONG story short, kids were with the ex, DS came home with marks on him, told me Daddy beat him, I took pix, called the doc, called DYFS, turns out kids lied--the ex grabbed him to stop him from running through the store, and accidentally scratched him (Ok probably rougher than he needed to be, but NOT malicious). MAJOR fight with the ex, felt betrayed by kids lying to me, cried the entire day, etc.

I NEVER want to go through something like that again!

I am just the opposite. I don't like to stay anywhere but the Fort. We do have our own travel trailer and we own our own golf cart so it makes it alot easier. I would never want to stay at the Fort without a golf cart, it is just too big of a place to walk through. I was never crazy about having to bus through the resort, so that is why we take the cart. I like the looks of the cabins, but would never pay those prices to stay at any resort. They have been saying for years that they are going to change the pool are and add a theme to it. I have no idea if they ever will. I won't swim in any public pool no matter where it is and my kids are ok with the pool. It gets them wet and cool like the ones at the other resorts. We have stayed at many of the resorts and like them all.

Glad you had a good time overall. We are supposed to be there for Thanksgiving this year if I can get the time off.

I am headed over to the camping board. Bye. Kim

Thanks for the congrats on 1000 post and Anniversary.

STAY SAFE Bobsmom and anyone else close by.

Yes MagiKitty, I am packed and ready to go. A little early I guess but I have a couple of hectic weeks coming up and knew I wouldn't have a chance otherwise. DH has been laughing at me for packing so early.

WELCOME BACK Pepper. We will help you with your After Disney Depression Syndrome. I can always send you a postcard while I'm there.

Hey that goes for everybody. Old and New. If you want a postcard, just pm me your address and I will GLADLY send you some Pixie Dust via Snail Mail.

Had the perfect day today.

Went to church.
Came home took a nap.
Then DH and I packed some food and headed out to Stone Mountain for our Anniversary date.
While we were there tents were everywhere. Went to the campground and asked why so busy.
Labor Day and people from Louisiana have come up here to escape the storm.
To give you an idea on the distance, Stone Mountain is about 30 min. to 45 min. East of Atlanta. That's a long way to travel.
I feel bad for all the families involved.
Anyway, we found a quiet spot for our picnic.
Enjoyed our meal then took a walk.
Found a Pavilion that had had a wedding there earlier that day.
Found a program on the ground.
It was a Jewish wedding. Sounds fun. Wish I could have seen it.
The place was beautiful and the torches were still lit.
Then we found a dock and sat down and watched the ducks, turtles, and a dog chase his toy into the water over and over again.

Following are some pics of us and the wedding pavilion.
Also including a silly video we made.
We always sing ourselves the Anniversary song from the old Flinstone cartoon
I don't look my best. I'm hot and sweaty but I figure we are all good enough friends now that you won't judge me on my appearance.
Hope you enjoy.

Sounds like you had a great day!

Happy Anniversary!

About the song, aren't you suppose to be riding around on a piano while singing it?
