Thread for Airmiles Collectors

The ticket I upgrade was 3300 airmiles. Then to upgrade to AP was $40 with taxes in.

Did bank of Montreal do away with giving airmiles for banking transactions? In Ontario it seems to get harder and harder to collect them.

I agree that it seems really hard to collect them. A&P's bonus points have really decreased in the past four months. It seems like when I go shopping, I'm lucky to get 20 points. It takes a long time to earn anything when you are only getting 20 points every two weeks.

I have used my airmiles for tickets at WDW....works out pretty good and I think decent bang for your buck!

One of the best ways to get your monies worth is to use them for flights to the UK(or somewhere along that line). I used them a couple of years ago, the same ticket without airmiles was close to 1000.00, and I ended up paying around 300.00 which was great!

I am saving them again for DH and I to take a trip to the UK! :goodvibes

Love Airmiles...not so fond of customer service you sometimes get from the call centre.

If you can get westjet flights for 1400-1600 airmiles to orlando, it can be worth it. ( We did this and paid the taxes and fees of $350 for 2 people)

I also do the park passes quite a bit and upgrade to AP's. I just did mine in January and I changed a 5 day MYW base ticket from airmiles to an AP for $248.

One time Airmiles had discounted 5 day MYW Adult tickets for the price of a child's ticket. ( so 1690 airmiles instead of 2105) I jumped on that deal...but I haven't seen it again and I try to check often.

Keep on collecting!

Hi! I am new to this board and I am even newer to the world of airmiles! We have 38 000 aeroplan miles and don't know what to do with them! Our travel agent couldn't help us and we feel lost. It would really help out with the budget of our trip if we could use them for park passes. So any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
thanks

aeroplan miles are different than airmiles. Sorry, can't help you out :confused3

As the previous poster mentioned, aeroplan points are different, but there are many things you can get with 38,000. Check out:

If you look at Disney alone, you can book an All-star night for 14,000 ... you can get a Child 7-day hopper for 35,000, etc.

There are many different gift certificates you can get for retail and restaurants for less - just check the website.

WestJet has unofficially announced that they will be stopping their affiliation with airmiles at the end of 2008. They want to start their own frequent flyer program. Here's the link:

It looks like the BMO WestJet mastercard will be cancelled, which means the days of 1600 miles max for a flight will be over. But WestJet might stay on as an airline you can redeem on, just not for the discounted miles. It looks like we'll be using up our airmiles to visit our family in BC this summer, instead of in 2009!

Hello,
FlVacationGirl: I read that you had booked rooms at an All Star resort using air miles. I didn't realize that that was available. I just can't find that in the rewards section of the Air Miles website. It was a Holiday House package? I don't know what that is and can't find it. Could you please tell me where I can find that info? I know that booking air miles flights needs to be done well in advance. Is this the same for hotel bookings; do you know? Our trip is in May 2008; maybe I'm too late to use my air miles for this?
Thanks!!

you have got me going on the airmiles ticket upgrade to ap's.....what a fab idea.

so let me get this straight before i suggest it to dh!

you cashed in 3300 points for 7 day hopper and when you got to the park, you pay $40 and upgrade to ap's????

that sounds FAB FAB FAB!

when do you upgrade? as soon as you get to the park? before you go in? online?

when are you going in december? we are going dec 20 to jan 2!

:dance3:

I was quoted 3300 airmiles for 6 nights at ASMovies for September. I'm not sure what any extra fees would be. I'm waiting to hear back with a quote on moderate and deluxe resorts too. One of the reps is supposed to be working on it and e-mailing me back. She had Holiday House on a second line while I was talking to her and was getting quotes from them.

If you go into Rewards, you can find it by searching for Disney World or Holiday House. It must be new. I don't remember seeing it when I was on the Airmiles site 5x a day prior to my WDW trip, lol. I don't find the info on their page very helpful though. It shows how many miles it would take to book 6 nights at the 3 different resort levels (my value season quote was lower) but it doesn't show you much else.

Also, you can book the Swan or Dolphin for 1800 airmiles per night, as they are both Category 4 Starwood hotels. Just do a search for Sheraton.

I agree the hotel rooms available through miles/rewards probably book up quick. I'm hoping my airmiles balance grows quickly so I can book soon. Good luck with booking! :)

Hi there everyone

I booked our Disneyworld vacation and cruise totally using airmiles. YAH!!

It includes:

1) return flight for 2 to Orlando
2) 2 - 7 day base tickets to Disneyworld
3) 2 - Seaworld tickets
4) 4 day bahamas cruise
5) Best Western gift cards (enough to cover 11 nights)

Now I just need enough airmiles to cover rental car but we are not leaving until Nov 30, so it should not be a problem.

I have come to realize that I am an Airmiles junkie lol

Here is the Holiday House airmiles link. I personally don't see it as a great use unless you have nothing else to use them on. One of the better uses of airmiles is checking out their deals of the week.

WOW...so how many miles was that total?

I hope it's better than Aeroplan, I hate flying with Air Canada but if Westjet doesn't have a good rewards plan i might have to go back to Air Canada:scared1: .

I just got quoted 2820 airmiles (plus 50 bucks fee/taxes) for 2 nights a Caribbean Beach. I'm looking at a pre-cruise stay and this is tempting!

I truly find airmiles is a MUCH better deal when purchasing items other than flights. We primarily use AMs (gotta start a new acronym ;) ) for Park tickets. I also use them for gift certificates for christmas gifts for teacher, cleaning lady (worth EVERY penny!!!) etc. I have used AMs for flights twice, and both times it was a struggle to find the dates/times I wanted. You also have to pay the tax on the flights (approx $150/pp) and at the time I was flying out of BUF for less total so for me, flights are the lowest priority when it comes to spending my miles.

I think it is a fabulous program and would recommend to anyone - and I am not a club-joining-coupon-clipping junkie but collecting airmiles is really simple.
