Thoughts on Tusker House?

DH and I have no experience with Tusker House since they started the character meal. Once again, DH has been asked to chaperone the senior class trip in May. For years the seniors have been going to Chef Mickey's for their one character meal. But this year's class advisor was thinking of doing something different. He is considering Tusker House and asked DH for his input. Since DH had no clue, he of course asked me knowing that I had access to a wealth of Disney fanatics willing to share!

So, what does everybody think? Lay it on me... school me in all things Tusker House character meal!

I loved Tusker House. I think it would be a good idea to go there instead of Chef Mickeys. I enjoyed breakfast at TH more than CM. I also like the new location of the character meal at TH. Besides they are right in the park and can enjoy the attractions sooner.

Tusker House is a pretty good character breakfast, especially if you are a "big 5" fan and want to do something other than Chef Mickey's.

The drawback is that it means you have to commit the whole group to doing (or at least starting in, with hoppers) AK for the day. On the other hand, with an early ADR, you can walk out of breakfast and pretty much straight onto Kilimanjaro Safari.

I agree with PP. A theme park restaurant dining experience requires park admission, so unless you have hoppers this would be your AK day.

CM allows you to pick your park that day as it is outside a theme park.

TH was great - they had some tasty "africanesque" food as well as the good old breakfast staples. There was enough variety for everyone and the juice was yummy!

Another great character breakfast for your group for lots of laughs outside of a theme park you may want to think of O'hana. This breakfast is fun, it is served family style - not a buffet, so less variety?

So if the crew have park hoppers - head to TH, if not stick with CM.

I really liked TH for breakfast. We had a group of 16 for breakfast in May and we all loved it. We are going back in December for lunch. We are making this our AK day. I give it a big thumbs up.

Tuskar House is my favorite Character breakfast..I love the safari outfits on the characters..and last time I think I saw all 5..DAISY was there also...I don't think Pluto was can't remember..but remember Daisy...but that I heard can be different..

plus the food is great...its got FLAVOR!!!!! even at breakfast.

the only thing is that the space is kind of cramped...

We have had 2 bad experiences at TH. First time just thought the room we ate in was loud, tables too close together and the characters seemed to rush from table to table. Gave it a second try but were not happy. Had really bad service, long wait to be seated even with ADR and characters rushed by. It was so bad that we talked to the manager about the service and my husband didn't even eat because he was so upset. Usually we are easy going but it was that bad. We seem to be the one family that does not like to eat here.

We really enjoyed Crystal Palace at the MK. Great food and you are already in the MK.

Like everyone is saying I guess it depends if everyone wants to use a ticket at the same park for the day.

I agree that O'hana is great. We also like Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club.

We enjoyed Tusker House last year and last week. If you are wanting to get an early jump on a park this is the place to go. The food at Cape May Character Breakfast was better.

Thanks everyone! The kids do have park hoppers so that isn't a concern. I think part of the desire to switch comes from the fact that the same teachers tend to chaperone the trip year after year and they're getting a little tired of CM's! I don't think the seniors will mind the loud atmosphere... they generally create the loud atmosphere! They always stuck with CM's because it did have "the big 5" and this is the first, last and only trip some of these kids will have to Disney. Now that there is another option for the same characters I think they'd like to offer some variety!

Tusker House is our favorite character breakfast, as far as food goes. Delish!

I LOVE THE TUSKER HOUSE! Best breakfast EVER!! And the characters are a hoot!

Thanks for the info on the Cape May breakfast. We're going to this one first thing to get the boys in the Disney mood! Couldn't ADR Tusker House til the middle of the week

We really enjoyed TH, loved the food, and the juice was awesome! Beware there are walnuts in the bread pudding!
