Thoughts on these plans?

So we're headed to WDW 3/4-3/12 (me, DW and DS 5). We've made our ADRs (got everything we wanted) and have a rough plan. This is our first time as a family (DW and I went for our honeymoon in 2009). We are DL vets (DS too!), and we will be staying at the Poly Villas using rented points. DS is tall enough for all coasters and will do them all with the exception of ToT (more on that later). My personal touring style is to show up well before RD, and if I had my druthers we'd go commando style until we do it all or park close, which ever comes first, no breaks. DW, on the other hand, likes to sleep in and take breaks, so we're trying to find a good balance, shaded more toward her preference since DS will need his sleep too. Currently have 7 day hoppers with water park, and will be coming OOP for dining with our Disney Visa dollars. I'd like opinions from WDW vets as to whether these plans are realistic and any other tips/tricks.

3/4: our flight does not land until 5:30, so our current thought is to get to our resort and get settled and check the place out, have dinner at Kona at 8, catch Wishes from the beach, then head to bed. Alternatively, we could add a day to our tickets and go straight from our resort to Epcot and eat there with a FP for Illuminations. IDK how keen DW would be about that, but it would free up an evening (and a Tier 1 Epcot FP) later in the week.

3/5: this will be our AK day (keeping fingers crossed that RoL, if going, will be showing that night). Figured we'd show up around park open, do a few attractions, have Tusker house lunch at 11:45 (convert it to a RoL package if available), do more rides, take in the RoL show, and call it a night. Thoughts on FP were Safaris early, Everest and Dinosaur after lunch. Do not plan to take a midday break since this park is far from our resort.

3/6: our first Epcot day. Planning for a morning arrival (but after rope drop), hit Mission Space and Spaceship Earth with FP and an afternoon FP for FEA. We have 11:50 at Via Napoli and a 5:30 at Biergarten, so most of our focus this day will be on World Showcase. I was hoping to walk over to HS after Biergarten to catch the Star Wars fireworks (if they are going) but I am unsure how long the walk takes (would the bus/boat be better?) or if the 5:30 dinner would afford us enough time to get over there and get a good spot. Might splurge for dessert party to guarantee a good spot. After Star Wars, if wait times are reasonable we could do some rides on standby; if not, we'll just head back to the hotel.

3/7: A semi-break day to recover from two days of touring without breaks. Breakfast at 'Ohana, then off to Blizzard Beach and Winter/Summer Land til 2ish. Back to resort, then over to MK late afternoon for a few rides and jungle skipper canteen at 7. I was thinking FP would be 7DMT, Space, and something else.

3/8: HS and date night. Rope drop at HS, targeting RnRC (which is also the Tier 1 FP), with the Tier 2s being ToT and VotLM show. Now about ToT......I said my son wouldn't do this, but; in May of 2015 he went on ToT at DL for the first time (just before he turned 4), loved it, and went a total of 5 times that trip. Ever since, refuses to go on it. Kids are weird. I won't force him to go on this, but I'm thinking Mr. Lincoln or maybe Mr. Hamilton will be able to convince him. :teeth: Lunch at 50s prime time, catch a few other attractions (it really seems like HS is half day if you get there early) then head back to the hotel. After a few hours of rest, drop DS off at Lilo's Playhouse while DW and I head to Artist Point. Is the boat the best way, or is the bus a better bet?

3/9: Total morning break, no plans. Could do pool, maybe back to waterpark or Minigolf. Mid to Late afternoon, head back to MK for BOG at 5, rides, and Wishes in the park.

3/10: Back to Epcot, rope drop for TT with FP for Illuminations (unless we do it on arrival night), focus more on Future World, lunch at Coral Reef, finish up what we didn't get to at World Showcase, dinner at Le Cellier, and then Illuminations.

3/11: Last day, MK rope drop, breaking off at 4:30 or so to head to Fort Wilderness via boat for HDDR at 6:15, then back to hotel to pack.

3/12: Board DME at 4 AM for our 7 am flight (I know, I know, but it's the only direct that gets us back to west coast at a decent time).

I'd welcome any and all thoughts/critiques/suggestions. It seems like we're going somewhat light on MK, with only 3 half days essentially, but after having done DL several times over the past few years, and the significant overlap between MK and DLP, we're only really worried about doing the unique stuff like 7DMT. Similar thinking as to why we're skipping Fantasmic and aren't too worried about TSMM, Star Tours, or Soarin'.

Okay...here goes..

3/4 Perfect. No need to change anything.
3/5 Mid day ideas if you don't want to break...see Flights of Wonder, Lion King and Nemo shows for AC and rest for the feet and the child.
3/6 Your FEA FP+ may dictate some of your plans. Having 2 ADRs already booked may complicate the matter. Be prepared to be flexible and change as the situation warrants.
3/7 Looks Good
3/8 It's Date Night! Use Uber or Taxi....coming from a girl person.
3/9 Pool/resort day sounds good for early. Consider doing some laundry while there. I find this to be very nice because some stuff you want to wear again is not wearable. Also, for FP+ at night there are some nice ones. Make them for after your BOG dinner. Dumbo is good, Big Thunder, Mine Train
3/10 I suggest doing the Nemo ride and Turtle Talk just prior to your Coral Reef ADR. Sea life theme to the whole lunch.
3/11 Looks Good

These are just some suggestions from the perspective of a mom of 4 grown kids who still loves the magic.

3/10-- I would FP Soarin as my tier 1, then try to get a Fourth FP for Illuminations.
3/11-- try to catch the fireworks from Poly beach as a final farewell. I know you have an early morning, but you can sleep on the plane.

I'm a west coaster too and go to DL a lot. Just remember that all the parks at WDW are MUCH bigger then DL so make sure you take breaks especially with a 5 yo. Your plans look pretty good though, have a good vacation!

A few things:

The walk from Epcot to DHS takes 20 to 30 minutes. The boat takes 30 or so.

Don't fastpass IllumiNations. There are tons of great spots around the lagoon. I've never had a problem finding one 30 minutes before the show. The important thing is to find a spot upwind of the lagoon.

People will tell you that you have to take mid-day breaks. I disagree. My family finds that they absolutely destroy our momentum and we are much happier if we just stay all day. My advice is to stay flexible. If you find that something isn't working, adjust it.

The rule in my family is this: If you need something, say something. If someone says they need to sit for a bit, we sit. If someone needs a snack, we get a snack. I am convinced that this is why all of our trips go smoothly.

Thanks! I like the idea of Uber, usually on family trips it never even crosses our mind because we'd have to hassle with our son's booster.

Is Soarin' at WDW any different from DL? We've done it so much at DL, including the new version, I was thinking we'd just skip it at WDW unless it was a short line and we had nothing else to do.

Definitely sounds like it is walkable then. Is Illuminations often available as a fourth FP?

The ending is different. It was filmed at Epcot and is nice.

I got a 4th FP for Illuminations late in the afternoon in July. I liked the area, but as they tend to be available later in the day, I wouldn't close off the opportunity for other FPs by making it one of my initial 3. Illuminations is good from anywhere around the lake if for some reason you can't get it later.

Agree with others, wouldn't tie up your day with a FP+ for Illuminations. We always get a spot right along the fence and have never needed one.

I like your restaurant choices!
