Hi all. It's been 6 years since I have been to Orlando and Disney. I now have 2 kids (they will be 3 and 5 when we want to plan our trip for next summer). Previously my husband and I would just stay on site and spend most of our time at the parks. But now that we have 2 kids I feel like this will be a very different experience for us. We are considering staying off site so we can have more space, kitchen area, and laundry. I have been researching Sheraton Vistana and am really impressed. Reviews are mostly positive but of course some are negative. Just wanted to get an opinion if anyone has stayed there or if anyone can recommend a similar property they have stayed at. We will have a car so transportation really isn't an issue..

Thanks!

P.S. I have been a "lurker" for a while but now that we are headed back next summer I'm coming out of lurker-dom!

We LOVE SVR . So much so, we purchased two weeks (resale) following our first stay in 2013.

So far, we've stayed in Spas, Lakes, and Fountains: Spas and Fountains in two bedroom villas, Lakes in a one bedroom premium. Fountains is our favourite section of them all, and where we ultimately ended up purchasing.

The location is superb (VERY close to Disney Springs, and a short drive to all of the park families: Disney, SeaWorld and Universal). There are tons of dining options within a 10 minute drive or less. The villa amenities are awesome, the recreational options at the resort are diverse (7 pools, 6 hot tub, 13 tennis courts, 2 sand volleyball courts, 2 basketball courts, multiple playgrounds, shuffleboard, mini golf, dive-in movies, and a FUN Team that hosts daily scheduled activities for all ages), and the resort is just so pretty.

This thread is a great resource and has tons of information and photos:

Let me know if there's anything specific that you would like to ask about.

Hi...we stayed at the Sheraton Vista on international drive last year and we loved it. We have 4 children and my mother came too. There's plenty of room in each villa and they're fully equipped. I, too, was a lurker for quite some time before I booked, reading all of the reviews, but I just crossed my fingers. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The pool area is great for the kids. The only suggestion is find out if the bus schedule to the parks works for your family because it's very limited. We rented a car and parking was not an issue. With the money we saved staying off property the car and park parking was still much cheaper. Oh...one more thing...try to call or email the hotel directly and request a newer refurbished villa. I'm assuming some the bad reviews came from people who weren't lucky enough to get one of those.

I haven't stayed there, but I would love to in the future if a 2 bedroom would work for us. (We most recently did a week in a 4 bedroom house.) I just wanted to affirm that staying in a larger off-site place is great when you have young kids! They can go to bed early and you can stay up late and enjoy the living room and kitchen without worrying about waking anyone else up. The resort comes up pretty often on SkyAuction for a great price.

The two timeshares we've stayed at that we've liked have been to Wyndham Bonnet Creek (adore this resort) and Mystic Dunes.

Sure, both resorts have slides. The Villas have a pirate pool with plenty of fun water features for the kids. Pictures of all the pools at The Resort can be found by following Gina's link above. Resort has kid features spread across several pools; a couple of zero entry, slide, waterfalls, sprays etc.

Have only done 1 BR there. We like Cascades, easy in/out and nice feature pool nearby.

If not a member and not interesting in the sales spiel, make sure to unplug phones or TS people will haunt you.

The rooms and resort are pretty nice. The one thing that my wife hated (and something to always keep in mind) is the traffic was horrendous and it took us forever to drive anywhere (this is not in the resort, but getting to/from it). This was closer to Christmas so you would expect it to be much worse anyways, but that is the only negative we really had.
