thoughts on Illuminations cruise?

I am thinking about booking the illuminations tour.... what are your thoughts? worth it?

We have done Iluminations twice and Wishes once. I love the Illininations cruise. The only negative is that you can't predict the weather. One of ours was very cold. That's still better than having the wind blow the smoke into your face.

I shared one two years ago during a spring break trip when we weren't doing parks. It was our way to sneak in a little park time, and I felt like I could justify the expense when I wasn't already shelling out huge bucks for park tickets.

I really enjoyed the experience. The driver was very knowledgeable and nice. He explained a lot of details about the show itself in addition to sights we passed. We had a full boat-- ten people from three DIS families, but it was very comfortable. There were soft drinks and packaged snacks onboard which we were invited to take with us when our cruise ended.

The view of Illuminations is really cool; boats tie off under the IG bridge. After the show, we cruised all the way up the canal to DHS and back. Lovely evening.

Whether it is worth it, from a financial point of view, will also be dependent on how many of you there are. For example, I would love to do it, but with two of us the cost per person is a little steep. In a case like this, the best option would be to share if possible

We did it once, in 2000 or 2001, forget which, and I'm gald we did. It was the 2 of us, three teens and my oldest daughter's BF so we took the whole boat for, I think, $125 plus tip. I understand it's about double that now, and I'd pass if that's the case.

I've heard that if the wind is going the wrong way that the smoke can block your view, but the evening we did this was a perfect night. I loved it. We split it with two other DIS families, and it was well worth the splurge. It's a neat experience. Our boat captain was a nice young lady who had previously been a friend of Cinderella. We enjoyed listening to her stories.
