Full disclosure: I've been somewhat guilty of spending time on these boards reading all the crazy stuff about FP+ and Magic Bands. I've definitely spent way more time during the planning of this trip worrying about how my vacation is going to turn out because of this. I definitely have concerns.

So, there were 2 posts that I noticed that really struck me. One was about people's favorite "thing" about their WDW vacation (I'm obviously paraphrasing.) The other was about how the poster could get or stay excited when there is all of this negative stuff on these boards these days.

Do you know what would really make me happy (and probably help a lot of other folks in the same situation?)

How about if anyone who so desires comes here to this thread and just posts their ONE absolute favorite memory, experience, event, or anything about being at WDW? I know that it really truly helps me have a place that I can check to just see "happy thoughts." What do you say?

I'll go first:

I just love the fact that being at WDW can always make me tear up - various locations, events and reasons. But regardless, the place touches me in a way that really gets to me. I can't wait to have that feeling again next week. No matter how many rides I get on or lines I stand in.

Favorite memory: DD3 surprising me in a Tower of Terror junior bellhop uniform shouting "Welcome back!" as the elevator doors open at the end of my first terrifying ToT ride.

For me, it's Wishes. When watching the pre-show on the castle and Wishes, I am overcome with memories of my visits through my life - as a child, teen, young adult, young husband with my new bride, father with a young family/children, father with teens, and husband with my wife in our middle age. So many trips - so many memories - so many memories still to come.

By the end of the show, I am always in tears. For me, WDW brings feeling of love and memories of joy. Wishes pulls that all together in one time/place.

I'm smiling just reading that. :goodvibes

Glad I am not alone in the tearing up...

I got caught up in the negativity. We are offsite guests, so we were worried, but after talking it over, we know all will be fine, afterall it is DISNEY WORLD!

I am 42 yrs old, been going to Disney all my life, as I was born in St Pete. Disney is a part of my life that my DH has never understood, but has accepted. :)

I LOVE walking down mainstreet at ropedrop, everyone scurrying in all directions, as we head straight to the castle to go thru to FL. The site of it all is a rush off pixiedust:
Seeing in my children's' eyes the pure joy with each character meeting. :thumbsup2

I think I needed this myself, lol, feeling so much better already!!

I have so many things I could post, but I'll just say that I loved our Magic Bands. I'd panic every morning - do we have our room key? Credit card? Park pass? Oh wait - do I have my arm? Yep. We're good! It was also really awesome not having to keep track of anything at the pool. I'd have one permanently attached to my arm if everything else in my life could be RFID enabled!

I have more than one but I will only post one.

Watching my two kids skip out of Epcot holding hands after Illuminations by the International Gateway. They were so happy and we had a most magical and fun day at Epcot. It was beautiful.

Wanted to add a favorite memory we always laugh about. DS riding ToT, first time age 5. He sat next to the wall. At the end, lights come on, and we look over a him, and he had both hands clinging to the cage wall, look of terror. He lets go, and says "I want to ride again!" So we did. :rotfl:

I agree with others, I could go on and on. ::yes::

Goofy, taking then DD6's show off of her and not giving it back. Priceless...

I look forward to reading other great stories!!

Probably my favorite memory......... our first visit to CRT, with my own little princess decked out in her very first Cinderella costume. This was back in the day when they only did one character meal a day and you had to synchronize your watch with the clock at the naval observatory to call in at just the right moment or be shut out. When we finally got there, and sat down to breakfast anticipating the day before us..... it was pure awesomeness. :goodvibes

I have lots of them, but one of my favorites is walking down Main Street at 2:30am, holding hands with DH. :lovestruc

Another is at the end of the night, walking out of Epcot, my kids always look for the twinkle lights in the pavement just before you get to Spaceship Earth. We all know they are just lights in cement, but for some reason, walking over them makes us all smile. :wizard:

Your daughter is a beauty! Great pics

Loved the "princess days" with my now DD12. We've done all the meet n greets/princess meals...She already warned me no more princess dresses. :sad1: Maybe I'll sneak a dress on my DS2 for Sophia! :lmao:

I am so glad that you started this thread! I feel like 90% of the threads on this board are about FP+ :sad1:

My favorite memory was seeing my daughter (20 months at the time) smile so big the first time we were in MK. She loved the parades, the characters, etc. I can't wait to take her again this December and introduce our 8 month old to the love of all things Disney.

I can only pick one?!?! It would have to be the first day of our trip in 2010. I made reservations to take my 3 girls to CRT for breakfast before park opening and dh and the boys would meet us afterwards. We finished breakfast just before park opening. We went right to Fantasyland and ride Dumbo and Peter Pan. We then went to get in line for rope drop at Toon Town so we could see the fairies without a long wait. We were first by the rope and the cast members were asking people if they were heading to fairies, princesses or Mickey and Minnie. They reminded everyone to walk (not run) and follow the appropriate cast member to their destination.
When they removed the rope, we started to follow the cm to the fairies but youngest dd (turned 7 on that trip) spotted Mickey waving at the end of the road. Before anyone knew what happened, she took off running and didn't stop until she had run into his arms. She was still hugging him when other dd's and I caught up. The cm asked how many were in our party and asked everyone else to remain on the sidewalk until a cm came to get them. Mickey took dd by the hand and gave us a private tour of his house (with a handler to help speak for him) and garden. He was so animated and fun. We then made it to the room where Minnie was waiting for us and have a private visit with them.
It happened so fast and was so unexpected. Such a wonderful bit of Pixie Dust.

Seeing the Osborne Lights for this first time this past November.
WOW
And walking around in a shorts and tee shirt while totally surrounded by Christmas lights made it even more awesome.:goodvibes

I have many as well...but a couple near the top of my list:

my DD (2 at the time) stood in a short line to meet the Fairy Godmother. When it was her turn, she walked up and the CM bent down to talk to her. My DD put her hand on CMs shoulder and very sincerely said, "Can you take me to see 'lella? Do you know where she is?"

Another when my DS's were waiting in the animation building for the characters to come out after a break. This was several years ago and often the character that was there when you got in line wouldn't be the same character that came out after a break. My boys were thrilled to see Goofy and Max walking toward them! Then Goofy grabbed my sons autograph box and threw it to Max and Max stole my other sons hat and threw it to Goofy! My boys were playing monkey in the middle forever. The handler actually had to tell them to stop because there were other people waiting to see them! I have the best pictures of my boys laughing from that day.

I too have been wrapped up in worrying about the negative reports of FP+ and MDE so it’s nice when a thread like this pops up with something positive that has nothing to do with FP+.

Like others here, I have many fond memories from the first time I stepped foot in WDW parks as an adult for our Honeymoon and was in awe of the place and planned many trips as a couple afterward for 14 years. Fast forward to the last 6 years with many trips with our DD who is currently 6, going on 7 soon. princess: Seeing the parks through hers eyes has been priceless and makes me teary eyed to think about it.

We are currently planning DD’s birthday trip which is coming up fast. It will be a surprise and I am so excited to see her reaction when she finds out. She has been asking for a birthday trip for several years now. pixiedust:

I had an ADR, at Garden Grill, celebrating DS's 4th birthday, with a cake. Without going into too many details, there was a misunderstanding, our table was given to a different party, they couldn't find my cake, I was not happy, and had a few angry words with the manager. They finally found a table, with the best waiter ever, and the characters were over by us within 5 minutes of us sitting down. When it was time to bring out the cake, we were so excited to see Mickey himself, on his way to our table with the birthday cake for my son. Not only was it the night we were celebrating my son's birthday, but it was Mickey and Minnie's birthday as well (11/18). The best waiter in the world, had everyone sing and then re lit the candles so we could get pictures of my son and Mickey "blowing" out the candles together. The people at the Garden Grill, turned one of the most frustrating situations, into one of the best nights we have ever had!

I have a couple...

DH proposing during Wishes

Watching my best friend literally jump up and down walking in Epcot on our first day because after 26 years she finally made it to Disney World

Watching the same best friend try hard not to tear up walking down main street for the first time

And her telling Mickey she's waited her whole life to meet him (*sniff* I just teared up a little right now :goodvibes)

Watching my brother GF (at the time) walk through the crowd after Illuminations holding a kid-cot Perry the Platypus above her head so we could see her if she got lost (she's fairly short and it was her first trip and was terrified she wouldn't be able to get back to the hotel)

And my favourite...having my little cousins tell me everything I "ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO DO" (insert little boys yelling here) every time they find out I'm going back :thumbsup2

Our plans call for us hopefully being in Epcot this Friday the 31st, if all goes well with our flight. We're only going to be there one day, we sail on the Fantasy on Saturday.

Since we booked a room at the Pop Century, we've gotten our magic bands, done on line check in, downloaded the app. We haven't bought tickets, just in case our flight gets messed up.

I've checked this board on and off the last month or two, trying to get up to speed with the FP changes and how the magic bands work with this. I know we're only there for one day, and not a lot of planning going into that, but I have to say we're still super excited to be going at all.

Things change, systems evolve and not everything can be just the way we personally want it. But what I've ALWAYS loved about going to a Disney park, property or experience is the fact for a few hours I can be a kid again! I can let go of the day to day and allow wonder and magic into my life for a brief time. Crossing into the Disney world is to cross into stories and we all get a chance to be part of them. The happy ending is usually our own choice.

I am generally a hyper-planner, you should see the binder I have for the cruise, and we're doing the park with more of a whatever attitude, but I think if we were planning a longer stay, I'd feel the same. No matter what I'm going to LOVE being there and will savor all that I can.
