Thoughts on Full Stay or Split Stay for SOLO traveler?

Hi,

I'm going to Dis April 11.... here's my dilemma...

Originally I wanted to try something different and book a full stay at Beach Club. Couldn't get it. It booked SO FAST!!!
So now the only option is to do a split stay and the other resort I like best is POP....

Thoughts on this split stay? I was thinking going the first 3 days with the deluxe and then the next 3 days with the value.

The only other option I thought of is to do Boardwalk Inn or Yacht Club for the full week. I dont know how I'd like either one. I've never been to ANY of the Deluxes before and since I'm going solo this is the first time I would even consider it.

So thoughts anyone? What would I like best???

I am not snooty by any means. I do enjoy good food and love riding the boats around to the different parks. I don't want to be out of place...I love the idea that the BC has stormalong bay. just the idea of putting my feet in the sand and enjoying the beautiful pool will be a luxury in and of itself to me!

Thanks to all who respond...

Tammy

I would do a split stay for sure :thumbsup2 I just dont know if you would be happy with going for deluxe to value? What about a mod or another deluxe. AKL is something I want to try sometime and that might be fun. GO WITH THE SPLIT.

I would try to new resort too if I was you.

I thought of the deluxe to value issue too...

the thing is... on my 6th night, I'll mostly be getting ready to board a flight for early the next morning (my flight leaves to come back home at 8:30am!!)

So is it worth it to spend BIG BUCKS on my last night??? I think not....???

:scratchin

The thing with split stays... is it easy to transfer from one resort to another? If I order things like water, and other snack type items to take with me while I'm away from my room can that stuff get moved easily too? I don't want to waste a whole day just transferring from one resort to another. I'm only going to be there 6 days... :scared: spending even one day a whole day in a room or transferring from one place to another scares the crap out of me....

I'll have a 5 day base ticket and no dining plan too....since Im going alone I didn't figure I'd really eat that much this trip.:crazy2:

If it were me...on a shorter stay I would not want to do a split stay as the transfer would just take up too much of my time (especially if you have a lot to move).

I would either book the whole stay at Yacht Club, Boardwalk, or Pop...and I would choose which one based on what I want to do.

YC and BW have the advantage of VERY convenient location to HS and Epcot. If I had a park hopper ticket and wanted to spend a lot of nights at Epcot then that would be a big factor in favor of those two resorts. They're also going to have nice pools, hot tubs, and balconies...as well as the additional conveniences of a deluxe hotel. If you think you would use any of those things more on a solo trip to just chill and take it easy...then that would also be a big factor.

However...on my upcoming solo trip in April (my first!!)...I have chosen to stay at Pop. I don't really care about pools, hot tubs, indoor hallways, etc. I still plan to spend the same amount of money...I just want to spend it on things like shopping, dining, pick a pearl, photo pass CD (for pics of me throughout the parks), etc. I don't spend a lot of time at the resort and the time I do spend there will likely be spend walking along the lake or checking out AoA across the bridge. A value room is plenty big for me...especially if I am by myself.

So...I guess I'm saying it just depends on what you want and what you will get the most use out of on your vacation. I would possibly do a split stay on a longer trip where I planned to have a down day or a day where I didn't mind just spending a few hours in the parks...but that would have to be an 8+ night trip. That's just a personal opinion though...I know a lot of people love split stays.

On 4/8 I have that awful 630 am flight home too! We are doing a split CSR/POLY. I went back and forth on it but decided in the end the last night taking monorail back to room and walkiing the grounds at 3:30am to go home will be nice. I love POP too, stayed there in Nov/2012.
I have done a split twice. Once I sent my stuff with disney and it took until 5pm to get my stuff. 2nd time I took a cab from CBR to GF. It was around $20 bucks but I had all of my stuff! This time I am going to send my stuff but keep a bag with swim gear to hang at Poly. We are staying CL for last days and we can always hang out in the lounge. Another option is to head to park early, go back to hotel 1 and take cab then at 11ish to resort 2. I may do that, will depend on weather.
Have fun!

Last fall I went on a solo trip and did a split stay. I had rented some points to stay at Kidani Village and decided to go down a day early and stay in a just opened Little Mermaid room at AoA. The morning I was to check out I went to luggage assistance and told them I needed to have my bags transfered to Kidani, filled out a paper and they gave me a receipt. I gave them the bags and then left for the parks. Easy. They told me my bags would be ready by 3. I checked in around that time at Kidani and told them about my bags being transfered, they checked and found them. I would do it again on a future trip.

I would book the whole stay at YC. You get access to the same amenities as BC, you don't have to worry about the standing room only balconies they have at BC (full balconies at YC) and if you don't want to walk to Epcot and DHS, the boat is right off the lobby at YC.

I stay solo all the time and I've stayed at all the Epcot resorts. For location, I prefer BW/BWV because it's pretty much an even walk to both parks from there. YC is my second choice, and BC/BCV is third. They're all good though.

It's a short stay, and I wouldn't want to go from a deluxe to a value.

I'd pick the YC -- it's really the same resort complex as the BC, just with different theming and decor. Plus you get a full balcony, and it's a bit quieter since there always seem to be more kids at the BC. It's a great resort (same pools, restaurants, location as the BC). I've stayed at both and would be happy at either one.

When we had an early flight out of MCO, we moved to the Airport Hyatt on the last day -- it's right inside the airport so you can just take the elevator down in the morning and get to your gate. Not as magical as a WDW resort, but you can sleep later and not have to worry about getting to the airport on time. Plus it's less $$$.

If you decide to split, it's pretty easy within WDW -- just give your luggage and water to bell services and ask them to move it to the next resort.

I'll jump on the bandwagon for do the whole stay @ the YC. I've stayed there for the last 2 years and love it. It is a bit more 'adult' than the beach club in theme. If your idea of heaven is SAB, then as a YC guest that'll be your main pool. You'll have a full balcony @ the YC (unlike some rooms @ the BC) you are closer to the dock to catch the boats to/from Epcot/DHS and BW @ YC than you are at the BC, and the walk to/from Epcot isn't that much further from YC than it is from BC. I say splurge a little, spoil yourself w/ an all deluxe trip and enjoy!

I would do my whole stay at YC. It is a beautiful resort and shares its pool and restaurants with the BC. And you'll get a balcony. :)
