Someone I know reached out for advice as knows we do DL as often as we can (ie yearly/every other year from Canada), this will be their first trip, family of 4, 11 and 14 year olds, 4 day hoppers.
Their park days are April 25/26, 28/29, with 27 being a rest day, staying at the Cambria- I can sort them on transport options no problem, and of course recommend rope drop, rest, back for evening plans, but I don't know much about end of April- it will be after Easter, so shouldn't be too slammed, just usual (now busy generally) par days; they were asking about buying the Lightening Lane passes- for a family of 4, that's actually a big cost when you convert it to Canadian dollars right now, I would think getting there for rope drop, ticking off the big stuff first, taking a break, then doing stuff late would sort them as well, buying individual LL for say Rise and Racers if needed? Thoughts on needing LL for these end of April dates please, I'm not finding the crowd calendar info currently

We’re going 4/23-4/25. Planning to buy LL day by day if needed, particularly because we get to the park midday on Wednesday.

I would tell them plan on it being busy. And be pleasantly surprised if it’s not.

What are their priorities? If they want to watch the parades, interact with characters, and have a leisurely first Disney experience, I don't think they will get their money's worth out of LL.

Maybe have them follow RainyDayPixie's advice and go the first day or two without LL. Get their bearings and learn the layout of the parks. By the 3rd and 4th day, they will know which rides they didn't get to do, or which they want to ride again, and can decide if they want to spend the money on LL.

Edit to add: Did they make any dining reservations? It is more than LL, but the Fantasmic dining package at RdZ is a pretty good deal. If they do the first show, it provides a good view of both Fantasmic and the fireworks. Plus, they don't have to hunt around for a place to watch the shows. If they are into Star Wars at all, the new Shadows of Memory is really cool.

The end of April is usually a great time to go. It might be more crowded than usual due to the discounted tickets but it shouldn’t be too bad. The weather is usually pretty good as well. We normally go the last few days of April but this year we wanted to ride Soaring of California and Hyper Space mountain so we are going a week early instead.
