:) first i just want to say a HUGE thanks to all the tips and advice that i got on here.
i went to disneyland last week - i hadn't been in ten years.
i used ride max in the morning - brilliant but you must be on time for the rides - no getting out of bed late!
Right - overall i prefer this park to the Magic Kingdom in Florida.
I thought the matterhorn, space mountain and Indy was superb.
I love my log flumes and think that the Splash Mountain in Florida is great. I didn't like the disneyland flume as much - but i was warned that the log flume in florida was better.
i enjoyed the railroad exhibitions - eg the dinosaurs.
toontown is a million times better here than in florida.
i felt that the cast members in florida seem to know more about where/when the characters are out - i asked when minnie would be out at DCA and was told but the time come and the CM's weren't sure where and i don't think that she showed up! maybe my bad luck!.
DCA - i think that i was a bit overwhelmed with it all - although i thought that the pixar parade was excellant.
i didn't really get the feel for this park - maybe i didn't give it a proper chance - i was tired by the afternoon when i went to see it.
i enjoyed monsters inc!
tower or terror - i got all strapped it and ready to go but just before they closed the doors i had to get off - i couldn't do it. Really annoyed about myself over that.
i thought downtown disney was great - i think that people have said that it is smaller than florida - but it was big enough for me!
also i loved the retro merch. - the old disneyland style logo keyrings, etc.
i only had two days at disney - you need at least three.
i didn't get too do the subs - i couldn't do the waits.
a third day would have helped me to have given DCA more of a chance.

thanks again,

xjx

I'm glad you had a pretty good time, and you are right about having at least three days to see everything and take in the Disney experience. My family always does at least four days whenever we take a trip way down to California.

Sounds like you had a good time overall!

My oldest DD and I are NOT roller coaster people, but we have convinced ourselves we HAVE to do it ALL....so I hope we make it on all the rides, but good to know that we can chicken out if we have too!!:rotfl:

Glad you had a good time. Interesting to hear the comparisons from someone who has done both parks.

Don't worry about getting off TOT. Maybe you were smarter than some of the rest of us to get off! I rode but I was scared stiff through the entire ride, did not enjoy it at all and will never ride it again. IMHO you probably did the right thing if you didn't think you could do it.

Hey, We were there too last week. I went with my husband and four kids (ages 8,6 (turning 7 during the trip, 5, and 2). Three girls and one boy. We were three days and I don't think it was enough. Especially since it was a lot more crowded than I thought it would be. We've been to Florida many, many times. We went to California to do something different but still Disney. Many people told us we would be disappointed b/c it's so small. Many people told us that we could do everything in two days. I don't know how that's possible with 4 kids. I felt we could've used two extra days, at least.

I would also like to thank the many people that gave tips, they did help out tremendously.

I loved Toontown in CA. But we didn't get to explore it as much as my kids would've liked. My son tried every ride he could go on. Including Tower of Terror (I had to get him a shirt that said he survived the ride). We loved CA b/c it was manageable with the 4 kids. A lot of walking but in Florida everything is so spread out that they would've had to walk more or like in Florida you have to get in the car and drive to the other parks, to Downtown Disney, etc. I loved being close to everything. I do have to admit that the castle in CA is really small like everyone said compared to the one in FL but our whole experience was great. I would definitely go back.

We did all the rides that are in CA but not in FL except for Nemo (why does this ride not have fast pass? OH I LOVED, LOVED the Aladdin and Jasmine show. The genie's jokes were so funny.

Well, thanks to everyone again for the tips and if anyone reading this can't decide whether or not to go to CA, GO! It was definitely worth the 5 and a half hour flight, losing my bag on the airplane coming back home. It was great!

Sounds like you had a fun filled two days at the park!!! Don't fret about ToT...you know what is best for you. I love that ride, but I think most of the fear is the anticipation. Once you do it the first time, chances are you will love it. Maybe next time!
