Greetings! - we're thinking of a trip to WDW for the dates mentioned and we wonder what everyone thinks the crowd will be like for those days - we know that generally Xmas thru New Year is one of the most crowded weeks of the year and that January is usually much less crowded, but given that New Years Day is on a Thurday, will most folks that have come for the last week leave that day or will they stay thru Saturday or Sunday?

we usually go later in January and we're used to it being less crowded!

all please comment

We were there last year from 12/26 until 1/6 and it was CRAZY! Even after New Years, the parks were nuts. It started to slow down on Sunday the 6th (the day we left  ). Our flights were at 8pm, so we went into the parks during the day, and clearly everyone had left that morning!

We go to Disney every year, so our thinking was - even though it will be crazy busy, we don't need to do every ride or see every show. We go all the time! We just wanted to enjoy the decorations and take it all in. WELL....it honestly was so crowded, even just walking around was stressful. You almost couldn't sit down anywhere....stop and look around....just not enjoyable - YKWIM?

Here is a pic from Epcot World Showcase....look off in the distance...the roads were literally packed from side to side so that you could barely move. CM's were actually positioned on street sidewalks, corners, etc... with "light sabors" directing people and telling people to "keep moving" ALL DAY. Crazy!!

Hi,

It might---MIGHT---start to slow down around Monday January 5. The last few years people have reported that the holiday crowds haven't really emptied out until at least the 7th or 8th.

If you have only been in late January you are in for a major surprise! The week between Christmas and New Year's is FAR AND AWAY the busiest week of the year.

We were there for Christmas and the week after in '06 and it is beyond busy. I remembered thinking it wouldn't be that big of a deal b/c we knew our way around and how to use fast passes, etc. BUT, the crowds make it difficult to do anything. The line at the snack kiosks were at least 20 minutes long to just buy a soda. The picture above is great b/c it looks just like that everywhere you go! There are also days that a park, usually the MK, will reach capacity and no one else is allowed in until someone leaves! CRAZY!!

I bet it will be super busy through Sunday 1-04-09. Starting Monday, I bet the crowds will be way down b/c people are back to work and school.
