Hello Everyone! I am so excited to say that I am headed to WDW with DS and our school for a Musical Theatre Competition and Workshop in February 2004. Needless to say, we are staying at the All Star Music Resort so I thought I'd pick your brain to see if anyone has any tips, comments or complaints? It's out of our hands, the itin is already set. I'm a disneyaholic and know lots about everywhere in the world so your thoughts would be useful! Thanks a bunch!

"There Must Be More Than This Provencial Life"

You will have a great time!
We've stayed at ASMu twice this year, and had positive experiences both times.
Plenty of choices for food in the food court.
Never had a problem with buses (well, once we waited a while for a bus to Epcot and it made getting to our PS kinda tight, but all was well).
Staff was very nice and helpful.
The first time we did not have a preferred room, but the second time we did. It was worth the $10 for us to upgrade. Anything past Jazz is quite a walk in my opinion.
We did not use the refillable mugs as much as we thought we would, for two reasons. One was we did not spend much time at the resort, and the other was by the time we got back to our room, we had finished the drink, lol!
We had a poolside room at the end of spring break and despite what we had heard about high noise levels, it was just fine. The pool was PACKED but we did not hear a thing.
Hope you enjoy your visit!

We were there last December, and are heading back for three nights this December. We enjoyed it a lot more than we expected to! We were in a third floor, corner room in Jazz, and it was very nice!

There are some pictures from that trip here.

We (three adults all over the age of 50 and no kids) ate several meals at the food court and enjoyed them. Since we tend to eat at "off-peak" times there was no crowd, and we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves.

The room was clean and comfortable and big enough for the three of us and two weeks worth of luggage LOL!! We were there during the Pop Warner event, and didn't notice any more noise than at any other resort.

You'll love it.

We (me, DW, DD6, DS3) were there in June of this year. We stayed in Jazz #2, ground level, very near the Ariel (aka quiet) pool. Noise was never a problem at all. The room was convenient, but it a bit of a hike to the bus stop and food court, especially for tired younguns toward the end of the trip. We really liked the pools at ASMu. Bus service was excellent to and from everywhere we went. The only time we waited over 5 minutes was coming back from MK one night after fireworks.

A few bad experiences we had, and I'm guessing these things are anomalies that won't affect your trip: 1) extremely long wait to check in, and no luggage service available 2) phlegm/ goo/ ???? on the TV remote; that was just plain out nasty 3) bedspreads from AS Sports (go figure)

Have a great trip!

We are so excited and cannot wait!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the input!

In my opinion, it is almost exactly the same as the other AS. Yes, I would prefer the Movies, based on its themeing, but staying at the Music did not take away from the magic of the trip. At one time, the AS Movies food court had more dining choices than the Music, but I believe that they all have the same food now, just one or two different drink selections.

Beth - enjoyed your pictures. It makes me want to go back NOW! We were there last November, the week of Thanksgiving. We stayed in the Rock n Roll section. For the price - these resorts are nice enough. I would stay there again. I do believe the resort is ready for a make-over (i.e., new bed spreads, wall paper, etc. It's not bad, it's just starting to show its age).:)

Just wanted to add, look on the wall of the hall between check-in and the food court. There are a whole bunch of autographed pictures of various musicians. DS loved those-he's a music major in college and would love a career at WDW. You'll have a great experience you'll always remember!

Thanks so much Simba's Mom! I'll be sure to look for it!!!!!!!

I'm sure this will be a very memorable time for all of us! Especially since our musical theatre/vocal teacher is a member of the DIS too and a fanatic like me! We are already planning alot and I am so lucky to be going as a chaperone!

Many Thanks again!

Jan

Hey Janis,

I thought I'd give a reply to your post since I've stayed here once before. It's a lot of fun and great theming. I'm hoping we can put the kids in the Broadway section which has some theming from Beauty and the Beast (broadway version) because I think it is so appropriate for what we're going to be performing!

I just got back from an AMAZING workshop and I have so much to teach the kids! They will be wonderful and we will all have the best time!

Talk to you soon!!!

Anne

We have stayed at ASM many times and have always had a great time. It is a really neat resort for adults and kids, we stayed her last Dec. and it was an all adult trip and everybody had only wonderful things to say.

Anne!!!!!!!!!!!

What a nice treat to see you here!!!!!! I can't wait and everyone has been so very helpful to give their thoughts. I do hope from what I see that we can get into the Broadway Section too!

I hope you have a wonderful time with Chase and Scott!

Kenny is looking forward to coming back to his voice lessons so we'll be seeing you very soon!

Love! Janis
